GB Clone Offically "SOLD OUT" 10/21/18 XPL HI 1300LM Focusing AKA Cometa 2016

Ok now i agree with tom tom . This transaction hasn’t been completed till i get to twisting lights for throw and enter into full blown buyers remorse . If perchance that doesn’t occur then subtle brooding that I should’ve bought a few more might remain instead

Either way lets be not happy together ... lets fret about the possible issues and worry that we may not be happy with our purchase . Knowing all the while that it’s the only course of action we can take . Damn grumpy is hard .

Our only solice remains in the hope that when we’ve passed on someone will finally know that we had unwittingly purchased a few great lights .. ones almost as good as their Atomic Beams /nebo lights and Big Larrys .

Cometa — > In Italian I think it means ..

catch a falling star and put it in your pocket gonna start the house on fire’

LOL, you gotta stop, I was taking a swig of tea when you said that. Now I need to wipe off my monitor.

That’s great Boaz!! . :smiley::smiley:

Now i got a mail from BG. They informed me that the Cometa is out of stock. They refunded the money (nice i already ordered leds for the host).
They told me i could buy the light from UK warehouse. Sure for 2x the price!!! This is soooo fu…… up BG!!
Do they really think we are a stupid herd of sheep? Thanks BG :+1:

What LEDs did you want to put in? The successor of the OBF that Neven is now offering on his webshop?

Hey Docc, I have bought two Cometa’s and could spare one, but shipping to Germany is 13 euro, so that would just as well double the costs, that does not help. I just mention it so if you or someone you know are by any chance coming near Amsterdam one of these days you can pick it up.

Thanks.
I will ask my uncle if he still workes a few days a month in NL (he workes for Hoya). If he is no longer working in NL i want to ask Paul for a Z1 Host (23,55€ for a Cometa is to much!). Before i spent ~24€ on a Cometa i add a few bucks and buy a Z1! Could be interesting to see the lights side by side. But i was hoping to see the Rebel Lime and the LCG H9RN side by side in the same host.

One Question off topic.
I searched BLF about a coated lens for the 1504. There was a lot of posts about the light and MEM did a custom run on lenses. . . . but all links i can find are dead or lead to nothing.
Has anybody a tip where i could get a good lens like a K9 ar coated for the 1504?

What site is everyone using for tracking? I’m not having much luck finding a working one.

Depends on the carrier. Whut’s the tracking number?

(Blank out a few numbers in the middle, though. )

Thanks Lightbringer

Hmm, that’s a stumper. Try track.trackingmore.com, or track24.ru . Might be ChinaPost, but ain’t sure.

If you pop it into one of those, they’ll often have clues as to the actual carrier (the canaio, postnl, etc., website).

Wellp, I finally got my first order, played with it, seems nice. No spacers/insulators at either the driver or tailswitch.

No boom today. Boom tomorrow. There’s always a boom tomorrow…

Still, it’s pretty bright, dunno if it’s 1300lm based on ceiling-bounce, but it could be the cell I used for testing (kinda old, ain’t sweating it).

I hate the Bat Signal, though. Always did, not a fault of the light itself, just the nature of the beast.

Wish I could put a stop for just a turn or two away from fully-zoomed to prevent that, leave a kind of ugly blurry rounded-square instead of a speckled image of a lit chip.

All in all, it’d makes a decent host, but even leaving it as-is (got the 3B, nice tint), it’s a nice light. For the price, it’s a steal.

Hmm, maybe I should get a dozen, sell them to unsuspecting widows and orphans. :smiling_imp:

I put an o ring (30mm ?) on the batt. tube right at/below the zooming threads. ...Just the results you want.

The best emitter to swap in to this light is available now

Cas Vegas.

Took mine with me to rural France, where i am now.
Just reassembled it as is.
Al works well, and the black parts inside the head make for a clean beam without rings, unlike my Brinyte B158B…
More lumens and considerably more heat than the Brinyte which runs a neutral warmish old stock XP-G2 on 3 Amperes.
The Brinyte outthrows the Cometa of course (no surprise).
Despite the switch boot hugging the switch button, no problems whatsoever with the Cometa.

I ordered some brand spanking new Osram #####.TG LEDs from Led4power, i’ll try one in the Cometa with a FET CC driver at 4 - 4.5 Amperes.
Should be fun! :sunglasses:

Perfectly understood

Good luck.

That is quit interesting, thanks for posting this SKV89

Just took a few shots during disassembly. I guess the driver is a little small for the pocket but with the driver ring, it stays in place well enough. I have some Utorch s2+ clones coming and I really like this driver.

This pill is great! The thin o ring is used as Lightbringers’ anti-batman signal bumper and the thicker o ring acts as a grip I put on the tailcap. The pringled insulator is back there but I put on some kapton tape for additional insulation.

Is that lens coating durable enought to handle my OCD polishing and removal of dust particles? :open_mouth:
