Copper S2+ limited edition

The new batch of copper S2+ looks different from the previous but I think I like it a bit more. It weighs 170.0g without batteries. I leaving it running on max output measured around 710 lumens to see if it can sustain it indefinitely. At about 10 minutes (didn’t time it) I touched it and it is almost too hot to touch. I guess despite it has the mass, there’s not enough surface area to radiate off the accumulated heat. The lighter aluminum version would heat up much quicker though. I wish there’s a copper light with a lot of heat fins.

This is a 7A tint, which is a very nice warm white matching the copper. No ugly yellow or green in the tint.

The one in my copper S2+ is about 0.802” or 20.36mm. No issues with fit. Unlike my aluminium hosts, the retaining ring was not soldered to the head. phew!

The glass is square with the callipers. Perspective makes it appear otherwise.

Which is the nicest warm XPL HI tint to go for with this?

Also am I right in assuming the 7135*8 driver is the most powerful?

Thanks!

Have a purple S2+ host due in on Thursday, also still have a Hoop copper triple sink/pill AND have an LED4POWER 12A constant current driver, figuring to use Samsung LH351D 80 CRI 5000K emitters for a triple in this one, should be pretty nice, not 100% sure that the LED4POWER driver is the best choice on a triple though, haven’t used many of these drivers and remember that there could be some heat issues? Not sure…

Not with this S2+ kit: https://led4power.com/product/ld-a4-thermal-enhancement-kit-convoy-s2/

But,this is for stock pill, for custom pill you could do the same sandwich 0.5mm TIM + Cu/Al + 0.5mm TIM.

7A is the warm tint. This low CRI tint has an odd-yellow feel to it. It might complement the copper body. Not sure. I like 7A in my desert sand S2. The super warm tints are not as bright as the others.

I have XML2 T6-4C in my copper S2+. This neutral white is ok. It isn’t bad but it isn’t good either. I’m leaning towards changing the emitter or swap in an optic. (See above) I’m still deciding what to do.

7135*8 is the most powerful driver you can get from Convoy. It is 2.8Amps on high. If you want more current, the BLF A6 7135+FET driver will work. Lots of threads with information about this driver swap.

There are other driver options, like the last one reviewed by Henrik per request of me which is LD-25 new version. Available at the Convoy store and at FastTech. Fully linear (PWM free) in all modes and current adjustable, which in my opinion is a lot better than any 7135 @#$%:

Cheers ^:)

Interesting. Looks like a good match for one of the high CRI emitters.

I’ve been thinking about a 3-channel driver with PWM only on moonlight. Maybe the LD-25 is better.

I’ve ordered one with an XPL Hi 4A, 7135*8 and orange peel reflector. I love my grey S2+, so I can’t wait to get this

Just received my copper S2+ yesterday.
It is from the 2nd production run.
I’ve not seen many images of it online.
Thought I’d share some pics for anyone interested.

It’s pretty!
Colour is a little more red (coppery  ) in real life.
I like it!

Damn that looks nice. Can’t wait to get mine.

its a very nice Cu light… I EDC them at work… They are taking hits now but they still look sweet

Hi. I have literally a few photos of myself, but without madness - Miedziany Convoy s2+ (Copper S2+) - prawdziwa waga ciężka - Testy sprzętu komputerowego / IT.
If someone wants, I can do it on request, just let me know
PS. This flashlight host is great!

Not sure if this has been asked or answered already. How’s the weight of the S2+ copper? and compared to the S2+ aluminum versions?

Does it feel heavy to hold (eg. like carrying a bigger flashlight)?

It’s in here somewhere…I think mine was 170-180 grams

Anybody thought of turning up a C8+ ’Copper” or Brass torch.
That would be worth having.
The 1in waterpipe torch I find soo ho-hum.

C8+ Brass/copper, with triple head. 26650 cell. side switch and no rear sw.
Really would be a torch worth showing around.

I have a Grey S2 and a Silver S2+ both new. I just bought,
battery fitted to test . Then sitting in Bedroom cupboard.
Never used or taken outside.
Offers if interested But I’m in Australia.
Freight would kill to most I think.

That’s why I dumped 18 in garbage last month. We live Rural.
$5 to $18 initial cost per.
At second hand price plus AUST, freight. Nobody interested.
My torches are either mid range keepers. or disposables at delivery.
with 3 or 4 surprises.

Weight with battery:
Convoy s2+ copper - 221g

Compare to other lights:

Convoy S2+ - 126g
Astrolux S41 - 157g
emisar D4Ti - 172g
Lumintop prince copper - 168g

Thanks, Charles Lin for those info!

Guess I was asleep and missed this one. Anyone know who might have bought these Copper S2+ lights for resale? Or if there are any plans for a third run?
Thanks,
Dennis

Huh? Convoy’s AliExpress shop says there are 42 pieces available.
