ReyLight Pineapple mini (copper) AAA/10440 flashlight (OP Updated)

I bought one of these recently on Amazon with the coupon, great little light. (Too new for me to comment on patina formation.)

Would be really interested in picking up an AA version in copper as well. Have the Maratac AA Rev 5 in Cu, but the pwm on low is pretty visible and it’s bumming me out more and more over time.

The older version has the protecting coating, the new version has no coating & come in with vaccum wrapping. I can’t wait the nature patina form up!

The new one is so much better. Easy to twist on/off. No flash. If only there was a Stainless or Titanium and/or AA versions…

Thank you.

I bought two of these copper pineapples and think they are fantastic! Would love to get a brass AA. Please send info. Thanks!

I also noticed no tarnish occurring so here is what I did. I disassembled the light using needle nose tweezers (very easy). You just unscrew the pill with the tweezers, pop out reflector and lens and remove o-ring from main body. Then I hit the whole thing with paint stripper and waited about five min. Wiped it down, rinsed and dried. Acetone or nail polish remover would probably work well too.

Is this going to be restocked on Amazon?

You can paypal and get it from me directly.

Reminder for users of 10440 batteries - do not leave unattended!! Whilst I'm fully aware of the care required with high energy batteries, I was using the torch recently, on high with a 10440 IMR battery and the door bell rang; thinking it would be the postman and it would only take 20secs before I was back to my task, I put the torch in my pocket switched on (too lazy to twist it off) ...................................... when I sat down 5-10mins later, after examining the China Post goodies I just received, the torch stung my leg with heat and reminded me i'd forgotten all about it! Quickly removed the torch, which was no longer illuminated and dismantled to allow all to cool. Once cooled, I tried with several batteries without gain - upon dismantling I found the +ve wire to the LED had detached, presumably due to heat!

Whilst incredibly fiddly I did manage to re-solder the wire and so far the torch is working fine on AAA NiMH & IMR, if I have damaged the driver at all it has yet to manifest. The battery labelling shows signs of cooking, but the despite the battery showing no signs otherwise of damage, I don't trust it any more.

All in all an excellent, robust and useful torch that has survived user stupidity that I'm sure would have permanently killed other torches!

WWEFANS, does this light use PWM? They’re beautiful!

High frequency PWM is used on low & mid, not visible to the naked eye. The camera won’t capture the PWM unless you photograph the emitter directly in very close range, which you force the camera use very high speed shutter.

Thanks!

How high speed is very high speed?

I mean to said higher shutter speed. I don’t know the rational number of shutter speed. I can capture PWM on low mode at ExposureTime 1/24000. mid mode PWM at ExposureTime 1/66665.

Geesh, and I thought my iPhone’s 1/50,000th was fast!

My Copper Pineapple has decided to eject its o-ring (between the lens and the head). Does anyone know a source for replacement or dimensions of the o-ring? I did get a couple spares with the light, but they were both the smaller ones for the head-body interface.

Thanks

Just picked one up from Amazon. Came with a v2 sticker on the box.

It’s absolutely gorgeous, but the twist UI is so finicky I’m finding it unusable. I have to untwist more than 1/2 turn to turn off, or else pressing the two halves together turns on the light (i.e. pressure in my pocket). This also means as I twist to turn it on, it often flashes and then ‘skips’ to the next mode because it momentarily activated and turned off while I was twisting it to turn on. I tried tightening down the driver as mentioned in a few places. My first attempt caused the front o ring to pop out, so I backed the driver out, lined everything back up and tightened it a little less than that. Didn’t seem to fix it for me. I have had the front o ring pop out a few times since then just from twisting the flashlight all the way ‘on’ until it stops.

Unfortunately I think it’s going back to Amazon. There really isn’t another AAA that I can find that looks this nice, but it has to work right.

Sorry to hear.

Not sure if you've noticed the new version: https://www.reylight.net/product/reylight-copper-pineapple-mini-aaa-10440-flashlight-nichia-219b-4500k-r9080-high-cri-led/. Tail switch, slot for tritium vial, glow ring in head, etc.
