Maratac CR123 Rev3 Triple Nichia 219C 5000K 90CRI & Lighted Tail Switch

A forum friend asked if I could make this light into a triple with the added question of fitting a tail switch.

Cree XP-G3
CR123 3v Cell
Low - 15lm
Med - 61lm
High - 245lm

I knew the triple mod was do-able but due to the new tail design of the revision III model I was not sure about the switch.

First thing to do was a mock up of the light with similar parts that I intended to use.

And some quick calculations :D

Cool to proceed ;) :THUMBS-UP:

Installed a 2mm thick copper slug and lined the aluminium pill with copper sheet. Filed off some or the top threads so the pill can sit further into the flashlight head, required due to the switch & triple setup.

Sanded down the triple MCPCB and optic to 18.4mm. Used tape taken from the MCPCB for a template for sanding the optic and to protect it during.

Installed the driver, LEDs & NTC sensor to the pill and made a glow disc.
The copper sheet allows two soldering points for driver attachment. Fitted in flashlight head.

Made a copper enclosure for the green ILC-0 lighted switch and drilled out the tail to fit a 12mm rubber boot.

Fitted clip.

Uau, just…uau!! Nooo, not for the mod, just for the calculation  :stuck_out_tongue:
