FW3A, a TLF/BLF EDC flashlight - SST-20 available, coupon codes public

It seems some here are not equipped for the stress, waiting, etc… associated with a Group Buy/project light.

My suggestion is to forget about this project and maybe buy it retail if you still want it.

You will be much happier.

I thought I was the only one… except for Tom Tom.
He might have some rude words and acting a bit like a troll, I get what he says.
I mean, it’s been more than a year now… it’s supposed to be a novelty item and will be obsolete before we’ll be able to buy it :person_facepalming:
How does Emisar launch such quality lights 4 times a year and Lumintop doesn’t manage to finish this simple project ?
Do not throw mechanical arguments to my face and re-type things like “ther’s some tight tolerances, and they have to find a way to insulate the inner tube…” come on, it’s just basic mechanics…
I’m a prototype engineer, it’s my job to test and try new techs… so quit the bullsh*t and make it done.

If this project has a happy ending, I will own a fantastic beautiful little light.
If not, I have the thought that it may have cost me a bit of a dream, but certainly no money.
Don’t rush things. Better safe than sorry. One Cometa is enough.

If this project just keeps on moving forward, chances are that it will be finished in my lifetime.

+1

The FW3A seems to have been put on the back burner while Lumintop focused on a lot of their other projects. S#!+ Stuff happens. ¯\/ ¯

Lumintop is waiting on Fritz, they’re ready to produce the light with a minor adjustment to a dimension.

It has nothing to do with stress or lack of patience as far as I am concerned.

From what we have been told, IIRC; Lumintop is ready to go on this…. so why blame them. They appear to be waiting on final approval of the last 2 prototypes sent out & received a few seeks ago.

We were told that Neal sent a prototype to two guys. They received them weeks ago and we have heard nothing at all from those two guys about the light.

This is what X3 was saying I think. How long does it take to post a couple of pictures & at least some first impressions?? Answer = Not very long at all.

If they are not going to do it, send the light to TK; I am 99.9999999% positive she will do it…… and do it in a timely manner.

Again…. this has nothing to do with lack of patience on the supporters of this light or with Lumintop.

It has a lot to do with two guys, apparently; drag arsing around and not communicating and/or giving the final thumbs up or thumbs down so production can start or changes be made.

I have to imagine Lumintop must or maybe be getting perturbed about this also, with what they invested in this project so far, no?

I always have patience with these group buys, it is a must, but i completely agree that the recent silence has been annoying, to say the least.

I imagine your correct KawiBoy1428.

Totally agree cabfrank.

:+1: to both.

From what I gather Cawi tested the new prototype, but since he has no technical input on the project he had nothing meaningful to report compared to the previous one. Fritz received the prototype five weeks ago and is still MIA despite Lumintop waiting solely on a specific minor alteration to a CAD file from him. For whatever reason Neal did not see fit to send a new prototype to ToyKeeper, the only project member who is consistently engaged with the community.

Please try to be patient. I know it’s uncomfortable waiting, not knowing what’s going on, but it doesn’t accomplish anything to assume the worst and let assumptions turn into anger. It generally just makes things worse.

People have lives outside of the forum, and that takes precedence. Like how RMM hasn’t been around much lately… and it turns out the reason is because he and his wife had a daughter, born about two months early, and they’ve been working around the clock to help their newborn survive. Or when The Miller disappeared, because his place got flooded and then he was ill for a long time. These things happen.

I don’t know what’s keeping Fritz away. I just know his last message stopped in the middle of a thought and he hasn’t responded since. Maybe … Something Happened. ™(*)

So we’re trying to get in touch, to make sure he’s okay and try to move the project along.

* It’s a mystery. Perhaps even an action-packed psychological thriller by M. Night Shyamalan. One of these days he’s bound to make a movie called: Something Happened

Thanks for the info Bob…. I went brain dead when I tried to recall those two names. :person_facepalming: … And I sure was not gonna search through this thread trying to find them…. thus, “two guys”. .

No use worrying about it now, but for the life of me I cannot figure out why Neal did not send that prototype to TK. :person_facepalming: . .

TK is correct too, the proclamations of doom, gloom, & gnashing of teeth; along with elaborated pronouncements of withdrawal & “take me off the list” will do nothing but cause hard feelings or war.

Don’t want one when the time comes…. just don’t buy one. The list is not a contract.

But hopefully, this ‘discussion’ will spur to action whoever is dragging their rear end.
IF they are indeed well & able that is.

Idk, I signed up for this light a good while ago, and ill be happy when it hits production, but im not in any real hurry. The specs make it seem like pretty much the light ive been searching for, but all of these people have lives outside of BLF and even if they get a cut, its not their main focus.

In the meantime im still hunting for a grail light and learning to modify and flash firmware. Thats plenty to keep me intrigued and busy for a while. Brings back memories of C classes
Now if only BZR for Windows would let me copy a branch……

Well, after banging my head against a wall for ~4 hours I got bzr to work with no bad gateway errors.

We don’t deserve TK :innocent:

I agree that things happen and these lights are certainly not very important, as we all have dozens of lights.

But I thought a well respected manufacturer was involved since some time and this is not just a hobby project anymore. In that case I agree with X3 and its just poor project management. And this project is losing momentum for a long time.

EDIT: Certainly don’t take me off the list yet

PM sent.

So Lumintop just needs one dimension changed in a CAD file to be ready to go. And it sounds like they have a pretty good idea of the change they want made.

Is it possible for them to just go ahead and make the change themselves if nobody can get hold of Fritz? Or will the project simply die if Fritz never responds?

I’m sure Lumintop can easily make the change themselves, but they probably want Fritz to sign off on the final version. So, we wait.

Thanks Mother!
