Lumintop GT Mini (Thower) Beam shots and more!

@ZozzV6

At what distance did you measure Lux? With these superfocused LEDs I think it’s quite normal to have a hollow beam at short distance, isn’t it? At least my TN42, MF02 also look like this close up to the wall.
Also how much current for 160k cd? At just 3A I get 196k cd measured at 14 meters in the Mini GT with the Oslon successor. But I also get the bright corona around the hotspot.

Fun fact: The XP-L HI from my GT Mini is the first LED I threw right in the garbage after taking it off the MCPCB, because the tint is really THAT BAD. :smiling_imp:

P.S.: I also have to order a D1S now to mod it. Thanks! :person_facepalming:

I measured from 5 to 25m at every 5m. And this was the best result.

I found that sometimes you gotta to toss centering rings and drill through reflector to perfectly center small led but no one do that

I tried without centering ring, but the reflector sits on the rim of the flashlight head. And focus got a lot worse. The stock centering ring seems to be about 95% correct in terms of height.

I don’t have that GT mini… So it does not go any deeper since rim sits on flashlight head? If so is there any way to raise the pill up toward reflector bottom lets say by unscrewing it slightly? And of course double layer of kapton tape on reflector bottom or contacts everything goes to oblivion… Than base your build around that centering ring (raise it by adding kapton tape or something if necessary).

I usually start centering with reflector bottom strictly on mcpcb and then I decide what I’ll do next… But we all have our own mothods and there is more than one way to skin a deer.

Look what I mean when I say drill through reflector with not so accurate accu drill lol :

No. This flashlight doesn’t have a screw pill. It has an integrated shelf.

Alright so I put the fully charged cell in it and NOW it has a black spot in the center of the beam. :person_facepalming:
Well it’s weekend and I got time… How to remove the driver? Is it just glued like the Emisars?

I am so impressed with these that I have 4 NW and 2 CW versions. Of course I purchased them when they were $32 each. I do have more C8’s but this little light is awesome for an XP-L Hi.

lol 6 lights? what do u need so many for hehe?

Since this group is my support group, I have to admit……….I may have a problem.

Is anyone having switch problems with their light? Mine came out of the box malfunctioning. The light won’t turn off. I have to remove the tailcap.

This sounds like a short to the ground wire of the LED. Very possible.

yes sadly a few so far had problems around 10-12 so far reported in the other gt thread, myself i got a new head from neal and a few others also that bought during group buy so its nice to see that they atleast sent out replacements. You should ask also for new replacement head, have zero issues now with the new so hopefully it will stay that way.

Switch problems i guess ? U bought from Neal or banggood ?

My GT Mini button feels spongy, is this normal?

yes the early batch of the gt mini feels more spongy, the newer replacement head it feels a bit less…

I got the GT mini today. Overall it’s a really great flashlight, but in my sample mode programming sucks. I’ve managed to set “UI - mode sets” and then I tried to program mode set. Here’s what happens:

1 click (in programming mode) - 1 mode (moonlight excluded)
2 clicks - 2 modes
…. same pattern - number of x clicks gets me x modes…
7 clicks - 7 modes
8 clicks - 8 modes (first WTF?)
9 cliks - 4 modes
10 clicks - 5 modes
11 clicks - 6 modes
12 clicks - 8 modes

That’s neither NarsilM v1.2 mode sets, nor those in manual I got with the flashlight. Anyone had same situation?

Everything looks correct. IIRC the manual that came with the light is an old version based on a different light. Look in post 1 here for the correct manual.

Ok, problem solved - thanks JasonWW!

Are all those “100%” modes driven DD with FET?

Good point, I forgot about that.
