FW3A, a TLF/BLF EDC flashlight - SST-20 available, coupon codes public

Yeah, that’s pretty much where it’s at. I mean, I could hold on for a couple more months, in an ideal scenario even a few more years although of course we can’t count on that. I think it’s best that we consider my death imminent and proceed with production as soon as possible.

My patience with the FW3A is bolstered by having a D4 and D4S with Anduril on them.
Anduril was the most exciting part of this light to me and the long wait time allowed me to figure out how to flash a driver!
If this thing had been done a year ago I would've skipped the (slightly) painful process of learning my rudimentary flashing skills.
The responsiveness of the D4 and D4S momentary switch makes for easy control and accurate clicks when changing settings. I hope the FW3A compares favorably.
Do not read past this if you are easily triggered.

I've had dozens of Liteflux lights in the past and I know that this mechanically complicated signal path can be problematic. They didn't stay in business long.
Even in the best-case scenario there will be issues. If this was an S2+ clone it would be done, sold, and discontinued by now. Extra complexity requires time.
But I know, blah blah blah, "I'm in productions and ....", "If this were MY company we would've...." "Any REAL company would've....!"
Everyone is an expert and knows the whole story of this light. Amazing what people expect from a ~$30 BUDGET light.

Well said bansuri, all of it; but especially the “triggered” part.

I love that!!! .

:+1:

Yeah, we need to get a pass-around going of the existing lights. :innocent:

I’m interested!

Well it took awhile, but I posted some pictures in the D4 thread, check em’ out if you like. TK's Emisar D4 review - #4942 by sbslider

I doubt that it is only going to be $30 delivered. That increasingly seems like an improbable target.

The longer that it drags on.

Perhaps it will all be over by Christmas, and I will look even more foolish.

Meanwhile I am probably going to buy Fireflies latest thing, which I think looks good, even if the driver is a bit basic (FET+1, nowadays, at least add a second bank of 7135s please Lexel).

But runs Anduril. Big plus.

And, ooh, it has a lit-up Aux LED PCB. Shiney.

And exists.

And can be ordered now. That didn’t take too long to create, nor had the “special edition” nonsense applied. Just an efficiently designed product, with yes, good input from key BLF members, hopefully rewarded.

Otherwise there are the Emisars of course. Also great. And efficiently designed.

The same cannot be said for the FW3A, I see no team, or team spirit, here. I see good people who have contributed important stuff, but feel no connection with uncommunicative Fritz, nor his mate, nor any sense that they could project-manage their way out of a paper bag, so have chosen to withdraw.

Next thing we know it will be prototype 4, and the rest. Prediction (actually already if feedback on requested CNC changes are to be believed, this is not great). Making a torch does not require rocket scientists (though I am one). It should not take four goes at it to get it right.

Not sure why I am posting this, because, as I have said, I am out. No longer interested. Better things on the way. Too much messing about and wasting of my time.

Might be good, might be great, might not. The fundamentals are, really, nothing special any more, so I am really not bothered.

@Tom Tom

It’s a FET+3x7135 BTW for the PL47, same as the D4S, but with Anduril instead.

You do seem to bother much with a flashlight you are not interested to get anymore!
All the doubts, all the skepticism, that’s fine, this is not pure crystal! It has been said, way too much, and our nerves crack here and there.

But there are fine flashlights out there, and if you’re not interested in this, there’s no need - in my opinion - to keep on beating on the same subject all over again!

Maybe it’s better to move on, mate, seriously… :arrow_right:

Going to miss you! Take care!

Yes I know that.

The driver and firmware for the FW3A excited me, a little more sophisticated. The mechanics worry me. The overall way this is going saddens me.

But, as we all know, it doesn’t actually exist yet.

PL47 seems like a good compromise for a simple driver, and I will probably bite. I have the discount code.

Thank you.

If the self-proclaimed rocked scientist doesn’t know, the rest of us goobers don’t have a clue!

If you’re superstitious perhaps you feel that by constantly dropping in with negativity it will help add to the negative energy and make your predictions “right”?
I’ve always been perplexed by people who drop in to threads about things they are not interested in, don’t like, are not buying, etc.
It’s especially ugly in the apple/android wars, but it’s always present in the flashlight world. When a thread gets too positive there’s always someone to remind folks that there is someone else with a different opinion, preference, whatever. When it’s over and over like this I suspect it’s more than just “hey, listen to me!”.

We all have our flaws though, secretly I’d love to see it announced that the FW3A is cancelled just so I can watch Tom Tom strut around like the cock of the walk! What a sight that would be!

All the while TK keeps tweaking Anduril so when it does drop get ready for an interface that is very usable and FUN! Flashlights with Anduril are more than just lighting, they can be communication tools, mood enhancers, fiddle toys, utility tools, and more. My Zebralight SC62d rode EDC for at least a couple years but has been replaced by my D4 Anduril.

First you have to have a physical flashlight (torch) in your hands.

Then we can discuss the niceties.

But, so far, this one is theoretical (but I can see how it might just work, in the best possible case, it’s not complicated).

Meanwhile, in the absence of any communication from the principals, let’s just keep slagging each other off, if that’s what amuses you. Nothing to do with me, or you, we are just observers. Nor some connectedness with the “project”.

It fills a space, I suppose. Or is just vacuous. But contributes nothing.

Welcome back!

I don’t think anyone can say “That didn’t take too long to create” about the Fireflies products. It may APPEAR as if they simply pop up out of thin air, but the fact is they have been working on them for many many months. Much longer than any of us actually realize. We are not privy to all the “behind the scenes” drama involved in designing, prototyping, testing, tweaking, revisions, etc… of the Fireflies line of lights. The same goes for Emisar.

Yes, maybe he can’t find the unsubscribe button?

It’s at the bottom of post #1. Here is the link.

I’m interested in one.

But you didn’t? That’s why he corrected you that its FET+3, not 1 lol.

Whatever your opinio on this light please dont stop posting here.

About the special edition thing, I’ve been really tempted to change the thread title. I’ve always thought The Miller’s title was a little awkward. Special elegant triple powerful flashlight. Should probably change that at some point.

O.K.
:+1:

A shorter title. reduced.

Example:

The FW3A a TLF BLF : Lumintop 18650

Or similar.
