I doubt that it is only going to be $30 delivered. That increasingly seems like an improbable target.
The longer that it drags on.
Perhaps it will all be over by Christmas, and I will look even more foolish.
Meanwhile I am probably going to buy Fireflies latest thing, which I think looks good, even if the driver is a bit basic (FET+1, nowadays, at least add a second bank of 7135s please Lexel).
But runs Anduril. Big plus.
And, ooh, it has a lit-up Aux LED PCB. Shiney.
And exists.
And can be ordered now. That didn’t take too long to create, nor had the “special edition” nonsense applied. Just an efficiently designed product, with yes, good input from key BLF members, hopefully rewarded.
Otherwise there are the Emisars of course. Also great. And efficiently designed.
The same cannot be said for the FW3A, I see no team, or team spirit, here. I see good people who have contributed important stuff, but feel no connection with uncommunicative Fritz, nor his mate, nor any sense that they could project-manage their way out of a paper bag, so have chosen to withdraw.
Next thing we know it will be prototype 4, and the rest. Prediction (actually already if feedback on requested CNC changes are to be believed, this is not great). Making a torch does not require rocket scientists (though I am one). It should not take four goes at it to get it right.
Not sure why I am posting this, because, as I have said, I am out. No longer interested. Better things on the way. Too much messing about and wasting of my time.
Might be good, might be great, might not. The fundamentals are, really, nothing special any more, so I am really not bothered.
