Also updated in OP.

Dedomed over 10 of them since they came out , with (hot) Nitro Paint Thinner .

Even 2 members from this forum have some on their lights installed from me

I remember hearing you guys talk about Nitro, but I don’t think I’ve seen anything labeled that on this side of the pond. What’s the chemical make of that? Is it Toluene?

Yes .

Mine has written on it :

Contains : Toluene / Hydrocarbons c9-c16

Say Robo, have you got your paws on that M2 yet, looks very promising to me with the side switch being one big difference and I don’t think it’s dedomed but with all the new tech stuff around here lately the side switch would be my choice right now,
I just saw that M2 last night and almost pulled the trigger on both just to compare but wondering if you’ve had a chance to look that M2 over yet. Big switch…

No I haven’t seen the M2 in person. I am not sure if they will be sending me one or not at this time. I like the side switch and the fact that it has the 2 mode groups with the ramping though. You are right that it is not dedomed.

i look at runtime test and do not understand how it does not overheat?

There is an internal thermal sensor that will step down the light if it reaches 65 Celsius , or 146 Fahrenheit internally. The light does get pretty hot to the touch before it steps down , but then again many do now days.

Thanks for the answer!
Yes, the manufacturer mentions thermoregulation and this should go to mid mod if i understand correctly.
You tried to turn on the maximum mode on a cold flashlight with a slightly or half discharged battery?
Maybe is it possible that a smooth decrease in brightness was due to thermal control? But i dont think so.
Actually i like the UI and brightness modes, this is optimal for the thrower.

No the decrease is simply the cell drain and other normal variants , along with the constant current driver I suppose.

Understandable.
Because of my carelessness, i did not understand this picture correctly :person_facepalming:

I thought it indicated work on the high mode. Now I noticed this is the med mode 1000lm.
Then everything seems correct. The flashlight has a stable brightness on med and direct drive (i hope i call it correct?) on high.

Sorry i have another question.
M1 archer work with flat top cells?

Somehow I forgot about this one. Dangit.

Somebody filled it’s slot on my shelf with a MaxToch SN6X-2X (2X Shooter, but not the Shooter 2X)

Robo, when did they change the logo to that rising star looking thing? I like the howling wolf better……

Hmmm, are there different logo’s for the different lines of lights?

Yes flat tops work fine in it , I am using a Samsung 30Q flat top in mine now.

I have noticed some of the different lights have different logos with Maxtoch.

I think the Flashlight gods may have heard you were trying to find one of those SN6X-2X and sent one your way since they are very hard to find now days.

I sent a e-mail to Maxtoch and asked if they could provide their process for de-domeing the SST-40. Unlikely they will provide that info but its worth asking. I’ve tried different fuels with little success and I have access to some chemicals from my employer. I may try some MEK or MPK later this week or this weekend. Not sure but I would like to figure out the best way to de-dome this LED.

Toluene works best in my experience.
Hot Toluene though…
Do this in a sealed container or you’ll need a gallon to dedome 1 LED…
Anything alive will prefer you use a sealed container too.

I forget if i shaved it first… I think i did.
I dedomed 2 SST-40’s and one died because apparently the chip wasn’t properly soldered to the substrate, so it hung on there by its bond wires, and then those broke too…

But even after hours in hot Toluene there were still some tiny flakes of silicone on the dome…

Seems like I tried to find some toluene, guess I need to try a paint store. Sutherlands did not carry it.
