Enogear AA Stainless Steel (AA/14500)

In my case, tracking started when the package arrived in the US and was transferred to the US Postal Service. It provided useful information only a few days before before my SS AA/14500 arrived.

I would email Jackie Zhang (at enogear@hotmail.com) and tell him my concerns, just for the record. I think Jackie may have a helper named Sami that now reads/answers email sometimes. But responses are still slow. For some reason, email and the web site are low priority to them. It is like they are mad scientists completely absorbed in their current endeavor.

I sent an email a few days ago asking when Enogear.com would be back up, and haven't received an answer yet. But I wouldn't be surprised if I eventually get an answer - or not. Take care, and try to keep the faith.

I originally ordered Enogear AA Stainless Steel, and after approx 6 weeks I emailed them and requested an update. I was told shipment likely lost and a replacement would be sent out. 9 weeks after that I contacted them again and requested update. No response to email for several weeks. Then on Nov 4, 2018 I received an email from “Sami”, (although also spelled as Semi on other email, maybe typo) that yet another new shipment would be sent out and I would receive tracking information on Nov 5, 2018. Today is Nov 14 and no tracking information has been received. I keep telling myself it’s only $14.90. Sent another email today reminding Sami that tracking was supposed to be received on Nov 5, and was never received. I have over 300 flashlights in my collection, quite a few ordered directly from companies in China. This is the only time I have had this type of problem. Wondering if it is even possible for so many shipments to actually get lost, or am I being deceived.

I have not received a tracking number yet for the replacement shipment Jackie said he shipped on Nov. 9th, nor has he responded yet to my email asking for one. Ordering from Enogear is the 1st time I’ve ever had a problem getting an order from China, but previously I’ve always bought from the big websites there. The lack of communication from Enogear and the website now being gone seems dodgy, but I’m like Flash-O-Maniac and keep saying it’s only $14.90, and hope that out of the blue my SS AA/14500 order will just show up one day. I plan to wait this shipment out until the end of the year, then open a PayPal dispute if my light isn’t here by then. Doubt if I’ll order from a small Chinese company again unless they have a proven track record. I’m definitely more confident my Wuben E05 from Banggood will make it to me.

Guys, This concept is not looking good for this company. I was going to buy 4 of these. From the horror stories I will stay away.

Which is a pity because (after a tiny tweek) this little light is absolutely fantastic!

I hate to hear all of this. It really is a shame. I was able to get 3 SS AA lights back when the website was up and it was less than a few days for a response from Jakie. I mentioned some other lights I really liked in an email to him and he was even nice enough to give me a small discount on the package. Really hoping he can get everything worked out and make his customers happy.

Sami answered me with a link to 17Track. And now there are tracking information to find. But i got the mail that the new light is shipped 2 weeks ago. But the tracking clearly shows that the package was delivered to the shipping company yesterday in the late evening. So it took ~2 weeks from the mail that says shipped to shipping the light.

This is China. You don’t know (who does?) how many parties are involved between leaving the Enogear manufacturing facility and the airplane taking off. In my book Enogear still is a hard working team trying to make and sell beautiful products whilst fighting against circumstances.

I have to agree, they build very nice stuff! I said it before and still think that many of their lights look awsome and some are so well build that you can compare them to a tank! But i also think that there are way to many problems regarding shipping (if you check this thread). I never heard of so many problems in this short amount of time! I sure do not know how they handle the shipping. But if i get a message that says: Package is shipped, here is the tracking number and in 2-3 days you should get tracking information. Then i for sure do not expect that it takes another 2 weeks for the package to be shipped IRL!
I think we can agree on one thing. If the light does not arrive at the buyer, it does not matter how good it looks or how strong it is build or how dedicated the seller is. Sure its nice to know that they care. But in the end its all for nothing if you do not get what you have ordered. And it is not helping if you write on your website that the estimated shipping time is 15-35 days (i think but can not confirm because the website is still not working) if the real shipping time is more like 8-12 weeks. This all together is not shining a very bright light on Enogear. I do not want to be the Grinch here!!! But because Enogear and FireFlies are linked (the same PP account) a bad reputation would not only affect Enogear. I hope they will get it right and that the other people that are waiting for their orders get it without further problems!

Wow, feel better now?

Taobao merchants are selling, they look the same, but the user interface is different.
.
The merchant also said: The delivery was very slow because it was sent in a cheap international parcel.
.
Unless you are willing to pay an additional postage of more than 80 yuan.

.
I like the Enogear AA at hand.

The website is still offline, I would like to have bought a lamp, but I’m unsure …

FWIW:

  • On Nov 12, I emailed Jackie, "It appears that Enogear.com has been down about a week. When is the site going to be back up? Thanks."
  • On Nov 15 (six days ago), Sami emailed me back, "Enogear has been building a better shop , It should be available very soon."

One has to accept that Jackie marches to the beat of his own drum.

I have an Enogear Nightwatch IRA on precarious order... Oh boy. Least the last shipping status got updated Nov 16th, so far so good. The Nightwatch triple SST-40 is an awesome built light, now running NarsilM of course. Also a FF PL47 on order with no shipping notification as of yet.

So it's:

Jacky chang - Fireflies

Jackie Zhang - Enogear (website down)

Also, Jack Zhang - FireFlies. I believe they are all the same person or company front man.

What was tiny tweek? Sorry if I missed it earlier.

Shame to hear the problems with the site, communication and shipping. They were nice lights while it lasted.

Hope everyone gets his light or money back somehow.

Send a PM to Fireflies account on BLF. The guy sometimes don’t(forget?) to respond or takes weeks to respond. It took several months to get my replacement which I thought was hopeless but all of a sudden I received the replacement that came with freebies of greater value than the product I originally bought

Sorry I’m a bit late, but on receiving my light I un-subscribed from this thread. Little tweaks, lets see:

- this is a two part light, so no head part (1), a body/tube part (2) and a tailcombo part (3).
The switch/tailspring is put in the back of the body/tail part, with a retaining ring on the outside to fasten it.
It’s a firm tailspring. When the retaining ring gets loose, it’s hardly noticable. Until the switch looses contact.
I found out that the two lanyard holes in the tail are fully “open” when the retaining ring is properly tightened.
So I use a splitring through both holes as locking device. It stick out sideways, but it still permits a tailstand.

- The body/tail part and the head part are not directly connected. Both are screwed onto the pill.
It’s a bit of a lottery what part comes loose from the pill first, when you want to put in a fresh battery.
To solve that question I put a tiny drop of glue on the threads that connect the head to the pill.
Now the body comes off quite easy, and the head a bit less easy.

- When the head came off, a TIR-lens and a centering ring fell in my lap, and a PCB/LED dangled “in the air”.
As the PCB is not fixaded onto the pill, putting things back on top of each other is a bit of a circus act.
So I put a tiny drop of glue on the PCB, to fix the centering ring.

I am convinced assembling these parts without proper aligning caused damage to the LED, as it was DOA.
BTW, when you are looking for a new LED, an XP-G3 and a TIR combined generate a tint that ain’t half bad.

My light arrived (the second one they send). Its a nice light! Build like a tank and very heavy for its size. I will have to search for a new driver (i do not like visible PWM even if its not as bad as some other lights i bought). And i will have to get a new led. I do not like leds with a shift into the green side and the one i got is def greenish.
But from the build side i have to say that i like it a lot!
