[Sofirn Lightning Deal] Sofirn SP32AV2.0 only 20.99 on AMZ us

This video review compares the new SP32 v2.0 with the original SP32: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=HHy2YNTWNeY

I found ramping to be a little on the slow side - enough so that I wanted to explore the manual 4 steps setting which the light arrives with as the initial setting.

Regarding moonlight, the manual claims itā€™s 5 lumen. I found it bright enough to search for stuff under my car seats, bright enough to read with, to see a few yards ahead on a dark path, but not so bright as to disturb a sleeping tent mate. Itā€™s a useful level that the manual claims can last 260 hours on a fully charged 3500Mah battery.

Yep, ramping takes 5 seconds; which is a bit slowā€¦ but I still prefer it to set outputs.
I totally agree about the moonlight mode, for me it is a usable setting as it is not super low. It is bright enough to be usable in many situations but not bright enough to be a bother to others in close quarters.

The first batch of SP32A v1 had slow ramping (about 7-8 seconds). The later batches of SP32A v1 has ramping of about 3.5-4 seconds (I think Emisar D4 is 3 seconds?) I believe the SP32A v2.0 has similar ramping speed as the SP32A v1.

Yes, regarding the lowest mode on v2, I also find it a bit too bright. I often like a true Moon mode (1 lumen) for EDC flashlightsā€¦

Weā€™ve just had a three day power outage, so my recent discovery of the vast world of flashlights came in handy!

One Black Kit
One Gold Only

Thanks

1 gold only!

Nice picture, thanks for sharing it!! :+1:

Luckyā€¦

I keep hoping for an outage so I could show off my lights. :smiling_imp:

Is it really that color in Real Lifeā„¢, or just the way the pic came out?

Mineā€™s a sort of greenish-grayish-gold color, hard to describe, especially as it seems to change color depending on ambient light. I called it a sort of ā€œpewter goldā€.

I like it, as itā€™d certainly unique, but hey, Iā€™d love a gold-gold color like is in the pic.

I inderstand what you mean about the color. It picks up and reflects the color of the light around it. My photo was taken under a 2700k (soft white) house lamp. The flashlight picked up the warm yellow. Outside, it is much the color you describe. I think thatā€™s cool!

Aha.

Yeah, Iā€™m not even sure what to call that color. I recall seeing it before, but no idea on what, or what it mightā€™ve been called.

Should call Ford or GM and ask what name that color would be. They have ā€œinterestingā€ names for colors, not just ā€œredā€ or ā€œgreenā€ anymore. Probably something like ā€œMediterranean slateā€ā€¦

Hmm, like on my car:

Exterior Colors

  • Atlantis Blue Metallic [Blue]

  • Carbon Black Metallic [Black]

  • Champagne Silver Metallic [Beige]

  • Crystal Red Tintcoat [Red]

  • Mocha Bronze Metallic [Brown]

  • Storm Gray Metallic [Gray]

  • White Diamond Tricoat [White]

Mineā€™s the ā€œWhite Diamond Tricoatā€.

Is that how the new SP32A v2.0 gold looks like now?

It used to look like this, very "pale gold", as it was called that time. More like a light brown color.

(SP32A black -- SP32A v2.0 silver -- SP32A v2.0 pale gold)

the SP32A v2.0 silver comes in 2 types, depending on batch probably -- I've noted a glossy silver and a matte silver)

Interested in gold

d_t_a I doubt the manufactured color has changed. How it looks to the eye or camera depends on the color of the surrounding light. I am going to guess your photo was taken near a daylight window or under cool florescent lights - a high kelvin number. The light bulbs in my house are 2,700 to 3,100K so it comes off looking a warmer tone. Outside at night, well, they all look black

I am liking this light and might pick up a few more for Xmas stocking stuffers.

Interested in one kit

Interesred in 1 Gold light only

The two I have definitely differ in color, regardless of the lighting.

The original one I received during summer is more brown, and captured fairly well in d_t_aā€™s picture.

The newer one is slightly darker, and the finish has a little more sheen to it, like a car coat that has more metallic flake in it. The picture above exaggerates the effect, but it does pop a bit more. Itā€™s hard for my phone camera to capture, but the shot of the bezels give a better idea of the difference.

Itā€™s not a huge difference, but I prefer the newer one.

The way the bezel is machined is also different. The bevel is larger and deeper, so the rim is slimmer. The Hot symbol is also shifted down a bit, though that could be due to variation (the Sofirn logo is also different, but Iā€™m not sure if itā€™s intentional, with the ā€œSoā€ looking like a normal font, and the ā€œfirnā€ using a condensed version. The Ā® is gone altogether.)

Fortunately I could also use my D4 to keep my hands warm.
