Nice little EDC phillips head + flat head keys for $2.79 shipped, after 5% coupon and this 60% Vipon code

$7.98 originally, not a bad deal in my opinion

Hey pinecone, that’s really cool item…picked a set up just now. THANKS for the Tip/

The reviews are great on the metal strength… Stainless Steel is strong stuff.

No problem, glad to help

FEENM Car Windshield Snow Cover, $2.20 shipped after $2.00 coupon and 70% Vipon code

Doesn’t look like the thickest and most protective cover, but wow, for $2.20 it looks like a good value in helping to reduce ice buildup during snow storms :+1:

Youngday Lighter / Rechargeable Electric Arc Lighter

$7.80 with Vipon Coupon

https://m.vipon.com/#/details/5629992

I don’t smoke, but I’ve wanted one of these; the price was right so I got it. It came in yesterday & it seems pretty well built.

For the Coupon price it seems like a steal……

I have had a few brands of lighters like that. Never could get one that actually worked any good. I do still have the habit of smoking, down to less than a pack a day after being a 3 pack a day smoker for 20 years. Anyway, the ones I ended up with didn’t have enough space near the arc to light a cigarette evenly. I could only fit one half of the end of the cig so the arc would hit it. Also took forever to get the thing to light paper or anything. I kind of gave up on them. Let me know if that one works any better. I would try one again if I got a good report on one.

Or just use Rain-X™?

Seriously, once we had an ice-storm overnight (at least freezing rain), by morning it looked like I had a huge orange-peel windshield. Gave the windshield a few gentle baps with my elbow to crack the ice (without cracking the windshield, hopefully), and all the pieces just slid off like a fried-egg in a cast-iron skillet.

Never tried AquaPel(?), but ostensibly lasts even longer.

I’d never even considered water repellants/dispersants for auto usage, I’ve used them on shoes before though

With heavy snow, it seems as if the vinyl protective covers help insulate the windshield a bit and protect them from cracking in below freezing temps.

I have no idea the quality but looks decent.

The Vipon $30 deal for the Wuben TO46R is back. Doesn’t have the additional Amazon coupon discount this time, but still a good price.

They pulled a fast one here. That light was reduced to 39.95 +/- 2 days ago, now the price is 59.95 less the 30.00.
Good deal non the less but hate the price manipulation.

Wellp, I recall the alternative, too. Leaving work, got to my car to find it encrusted in ice like a Glazed Doughnut From Hell. Had to chop away ice from the door seams just to open it to get in. Had to have the car fast-idling forever just to get up to temp to try to heat the windshield enough to melt the ice. No go.

Wasted at least a half-hour if not more just trying to get a clear enough view to see through the windshield. Frustrating…

Since then, every time I hear it’s even rumored to get below freezing, I reapply RX to all glass my car has, including mirrors and lights.

I can’t help you with it’s ability to light cigarettes cause I don’t smoke.

But, I can tell you it will light a paper towel right up immediately with no problem. :+1:

What the heck. For the price it won’t hurt too much to find out. I’ll order one and see how it does.

Yeah… the price is right. :+1: . Hope it does what you want.

Makes sense, scraping ice can suck :zipper_mouth_face:

“Scraping”? Was more like chiselling.

For a while, I went inside to get a container of hothothot water from the tap. Was about tepid by the time I got to the car. Poured (slowly!) the water to try to melt the OP ice from the windshield nicely, but the problem with that approach is that even after that ice melted, the leftover water on the windshield froze back up quickly (was in the teens, middle of a “cold snap”).

I was figuring the stream of hot warm water would at least heat the glass enough to let me take a few swipes with the wipers, but nope, the cold air and more importantly cold wind was cooling it back down.

I still remember the strong wind and freezing rain that only one side of my car had about a half-inch of built-up ice, while the other side was just “frosted” somewhat. Freaky…

^ That makes me happy to know I have a very thick windshield cover this season (moreso than the one I posted), along with this funny looking, waterproof mitt with a scraping chiselling blade at the end.

Last season was me trying to do my best using an old gift card while my gloves got wet and my hands went numb, not doing that again if I can help it lol

They have to recuperate profits after all the BLF’ers jumped on it while it was $12  Thanks for heads up, TT :+1:

Another Wuben E05 on Vipon . It is for $23 but has a $6 coupon with the Amazon listing bringing it down to $16.99

How many of us remember using cassette tape cases to scrape windows?
They worked pretty good!
If you can get them to stay still (use those magnetic parts trays to help) those cheap blue tarps form harbor freight work very well over windshields.

Wish I had a garage.
