The perimeter TIR’s don’t look like they can be enlarged much, but if the center TIR was enlarged to be throwy, it would be a sweet combo of throw and flood.
+1 from me for a larger throwy center TIR.
+1 for interchangeable TIR options
+1 for ability to open up the front bezel and access TIR/and LED/MCPCB
To do the silver anodizing would only require NOT dipping it in the color dye bath after the ano is done. Actually EASIER as it requires that one less step. That’s all. So, there is a line of lights going from ano tank to color dye tank then to the seal tank. Simply skip one step.
There is approx 0% chance you will ever find another optic to fit. The DQG Tiny 26650 is around the same size but clearly has different legs. Not really room to increase the TIR without making the head closer to 39-40mm, at least for brand name optics.
The FW3A was designed like this from the ground up and apparently they just updated that thread saying they scrapped it (clear ano) cause they couldn’t get it right. It’s now dark gray only. Either it’s harder than it sounds or these companies just refuse to buck the trend.
Previously browsing online, I stumbled upon a lot of different 7x, 9x, and other multi emitter optics. I doubt FF created a unique optic for this light. I’m pretty sure they use off-the-shelf TIR. If that’s the case, if they let us know which one, it would make it easier for us to find compatible optics with different beam characteristics.
Yes, but not in ~35-36mm size. If you found “a lot” please share cause it would be beneficial for other modders. Almost everything I found is 40-50mm for this many LEDs not to mention the height and leg holes have to match up. I’m curious too who made this one but it’s probably some obscure Chinese factory with no online presence. I hope to be proven wrong but we’ll see.
Wonderful! Pitty the silver one didn’t make it but the offered ones are quite appealing.
However, performance is a necessary condition. So I want to see OTF lumens and throw. I’d also like to see a Maukka review for an efficient LED, not the Nichia.
15 days to make a first batch of black E07, then the champagne 15 days later and finally 15 more for the grey one. Depending on your LED choice, if it is not the most popular, this should add a further delay, flashlight will be assemble later, then the set will be shipped in 2 to 3 months.
The grey looks slightly more glossy. Glossy anodization always looks more cheap to me, don’t like. Blue/pink aux LED isn’t my cup of tea, I hope there will be an “unglued” option.
Util FF tells us which optic they used, I’m not going to waste time to search up optics. I don’t know what size the ones I saw online are because I wasn’t intentionally looking for them.
If people are willing to pay more maybe they could do a nickel electroplating? It wont lock out manually but it will be more durable and retain the “metal” look.
I could probably live with just the dark gray ano though as long as it isn’t too shiny.
