With a clip attached this way to the C01 it would not turn on as the driver board would not make contact with the inner ring inside the battery tube.

Perhaps an Arc AAA clip might fit? That design looks quite bomb proof and reversible (source).

The GIU uses a similar design.

If it is white, it is usually thermal epoxy.

I am still amazed at how ingenious the Sofirn C01 tailcap design is given the size constraints and all the included optional functionality. Thanks djozz and Noir! I presume this is the most advanced tail cap design of any currently available AAA flashlight.

Like djozz stated earlier:

I honestly also think the tailcap is not really important for a 6 dollar light, but because we may have the opportunity to take part in the design of it I think it is fun and worthwile hobbytime to spend a lot of thinking time on it and see if we can do it better than all other manufacturers who also do not take the time to think long about the tailcap of their 6 dollar lights.
And the best fun is if our tailcap design makes its way in other manufacturer’s designs.

Ha. I actually just posted in the other forum and asked Fenix Store if the E01 has been disco’d. Still waiting on my Sofirn and good to hear that the “frosting” has hardened up nicely

Yeah, potting that prevents modding is a misfeature.
It’d be a favor if they’d offer hosts or moddable lights.

Because of the potting of the electronics….

OK…. I see what you are referring to now…. the difference in the potting compound used.
That is basically a non-issue to me on these lights, but…. I understand it might give some pause because of making the light basically unmodable. :+1:
