Have you had QC issues with IMALENT products? (DX80, MS12, R90C, etc)

Hi SSS,
Sorry to hear about your DX80. I’ve seen others with DX80 issues and sometimes it looked to components on the BMS that fried.
Do you still have battery voltage on the output to the head? Curious if its the same issue since you say it flickered.

nothing…
no display, cannot be charge…
and strong smell of electronic burning

the battery pack read 15v on my multimeter…
i guess the battery pack is still good
probably fried the main board…

does TA driver compatible with dx80…?
maybe will mod this light using blf gt carrier
and replacement driver

If it cant be charged, I wonder if it is the BMS then. Maybe the BMS can still output correct voltage after frying, but will not output more than a few mA? So multimeter will work but nothing on the light will… Could be the transistors on the BMS (they are very sensitive, especially if they are fakes). Just some things to check if you are interested.

If only it was a TA or Lexel design. It would have been worth every penny for Imalent.

I think the hardest part is getting inside the head to replace anything. Opening the battery looks much easier.
Here is a similar situation to yours maybe: REVIEW IMALENT DX80 COMPLETE. - #427 by Wieselflinkpro

hopefully…

now i got massive samsung 30q + xhp 70.2 paperweight sitting on the shelf
got to do some thing with it…
and no more light from imalent for me…
their warranty is non-existent

I have only an Imalent HR20 headlamp.

The headlamp itself is still working after light to moderate usage since 18 months, but the headband is crude, cannot keep the headlamp in position.

Output level adjusting screw is somewhat wobbly, and needs readjustment moderately often, when I want to change output level.

Did not try its water resistance, and won’t (as I read here on BLF, that somebody had this model failed even under basic water resistance testing conditions).

Imalent R90C is a very tempting flashlight based on the specifications, but I won’t risk to pay for it (even with discounts), if there is considerable chance, that it will fail soon.

I had two of them, both with serious problems. After a long discussion they had been replaced.

-HR20, a screw inside the Head was missing, the other was loos. So after 3 days the switch and output level adjuster starts hardly wiggling . .

-DN12, something wrong with the driver. The moment i turned it on, i got an heat alarm and the light reduced power.

Do i get the poll right?!? 45% (with problems) vs. 35% (with out problems)
This would mean 56% of all Imalent lights have serious quality problem?
Sorry, but my decision is clear - Imalent, never again.

Yeah… Unfortunately

being someone who worked in an outdoor shop and had a short contract with imalent on a few shipments, the older Imalent tends to have more issues, otherwise the latest one not so much

The DX80 I won has been working flawlessly since I got it.

That said knowing their rep if I was in the market to buy I would really second guess them.

I missed Imalent LCD and dual buttons and USB port.
Their DT35 is very nice light though lower output than spec.

Never had a problem with my 5 Imalent lights.

I’ve had Acebeam and Olight issues though amongst many other brands.

I’ve had over 100 lights in less than 3 years and I bet 15-20 had faults.

Been very happily using an Imalent DN70 as my EDC for nearly a year. No problems at all, except the well known difficulty of finding the switch in the dark. I solved this by adding a lump of white adhesive rubber under the switch, makes it visually easy to see the switch, even in dim light, and easy to feel for it in the dark.

I’ve just had a 2nd Acebeam light fail on me tonight, the UC15. 3 if you include the Acebeam X45vn that failed.

So that’s:

5 Imalents 0 Failures
6 Acebeams 2 Failures
4 Olights 2 failures

Also:

3 Astrolux failures
1 Klarus failure
1 Nitecore failure
1 Lumintop failure
1 MecArmy failure
1 Manker failure
1 ROT66 failure
1 Skylumen failure

Imalent DX80 this was going to be my monster light this holiday and few others (5)a present for my buddies, however I found too many folks having issues with Imalent and just can not see me dropping all that cash for poor quality lights. Too bad….

Imalent DT35, not a problem with it, has had very light use to be fair but it’s working fine and the build quality is great.

I also had the Imalent bicycle light, which (on the very first use) fell off it’s mount and got lost, couldn’t find it again. It seemed like a great light, again well made and with a nice beam pattern, but it fell off before it’d even got dark! Awful mount :frowning:

the three Imalent lights i have including a DX80 all work perfectly and been great lights to me. (while i have had 6 Sunwayman lights, all have died, had problems, two were DOA, and have none right now that work.)
