I must have missed you posting this. Which is odd, since lately i have had this strange compulsion to refresh blf recent posts during all my waking hours
anyway...that's green?! you're right, its hard to tell in the pics, which is weird, since they look great!
I don't understand some of these manufacturers. They build a beautiful flashlight like this, design it to handle lots of heat dissipation, it has the appearance of being able to shoot flames out the front, and then toss in a super conservative driver that's only 1.15a on high mode. I thought it was supposed to be regulated at 2.8a on high?
Foy, if I can make a suggestion, a few group shots with some common other flashlights might be a good idea, for size, color, anodization, and other comparison sake.
Thank for the comparison Viktor. Actually the JM05 has nice tint and a tint host spot. Sometimes is better to look at the beam shots and not at current draw measurements.
The part of the wall that behind the fence is better illuminated by the JM05, but in fact the hotspot don't match, the M8 being pointed a bit lower.
Your alias is safe with me, but I can be bribed. Another review in your own impeccable manner.
I recieved this light about 10 days ago. Using King Kong 26650 cells with voltage at 4 volt the amperage usage is, high 1.27 amps, med .63 amps and low .08 amps. Low is very low and would expect a couple of years run time on these batteries. (joking). The body has no imperfections at all and I would consider an excellent finish. Love the color as its very different to black. The battery tube has double o'rings either end. Not sure what happened with Foys. Also the Lanyard is colored blue. Thanks for pointing out how the lens is held in as this had me beat. The light holster ordered at the same time is very average in quality. Protected Trustfire 2400 and 3000 flames are to long to screw the end cap on fully.
How does the memory on modes work as mine turns onto high everytime it is turned on?
Light throw in the bush varies greatly, depending what if anything the light can reflect of. Lighting up a dam 175 meters away the dam is very clear but the trees 25 meters behind are recogniseable as trees but no where as clear. These trees are gum trees and a very dark green. Shining at a white caravan 282 meters away the caravan lit up but could not be recognised as a caravan. All measurements are off google earth.
Thanks again for an excellent review and your's and Benkies help with a few answers to silly questions.
Another awesome review Foy! I REALLY like the looks of this one but have been holding off since I've read it's a bit conservative on draw, however, as you mentioned it'd be a great platform for modding.
That is odd that you got two o-rings at each end and it also sounds like you may have got a different driver as well. Mine has mode memory but rentention time is long.
As soon as E can secure the right driver, mine will be going to him for the flashlight equivalent of heads/cam/headers/custom tune. Going to push that XM-L pretty hard . . .
The thing looks part monolith! lol And it looks like it'd be great for bludgeoning! Doesn't hold all that much appeal in my eyes, though I like the bold fins.
You know you will have to do a complete rundown of these mods. First F1 race for the season is on here now so there is plenty of this going on. heads/cam/headers/custom tune.
