Received my gold SP32A V2.0 light. Like everyone is saying, itâs not really a gold color at all, more brownish-bronze, but I definitely like the color.
Itâs a nice light, but the switch is not very good, as it has significant takeup movement before it activates, which is a bummer. The switch on my SP10B is rock solid, with no takeup at all, giving instant response. Are the switches on these SP32A V2.0 lights all that way, or did I get a bad one? Is there any way to easily improve the switch, either by a mod or replacing the switch?
Yes, the free travel issue is what Iâm referring to. If most or all have switches like this, then I can live with it also. Just want to be sure I didnât get a bad light that should be returned.
I got a black (sample), gold, gold, and silver. Only one of the gold has it, but I donât recall offhand if the silver does. Black, definitely not.
Yeah, someone compared it to the button on a DSLR camera, a half-push of nothing and then the other half-push to activate. Personally, Iâd like to get rid of the âslopâ, but it doesnât bug me⌠too much. No idea why some do and some donât. Possibly slightly different parts (eg, switchcap) in different batches.
At least itâs springy and not just rattling around, though. If it were rattling around from âfully extendedâ to the half-push point, thatâd totally bug me.
What would be awesome is if the half-push point would be a momentary-on, or something functional like on some Nitecores (MH20, P30, etc.). Then, it actually does something.
So, I ended up returning my gold light for a refund. Didnât want a replacement because of some others having play in their switch also, so didnât want to chance the same issue again. The switch on mine was definitely wonky with the excessive free travel, and after playing with it for a couple of days, it was also hit or miss if I could double click it just right (super fast) to get it to go into turbo mode. Again, a really nice looking light, especially the color, but I just wish it had the same quality of switch that is on my SP10B, which has no free travel and easily goes into turbo, and is a great little light.
There is a mistake in the graphic above. The levels in mode group 1 are correct but it doesnât show turbo. Double click gives me over 1100 lumens.
In mode group 2- ramping, the max is over 1100, not 500. Ramping goes all the way to turbo- no double click is required, but you can still double click if youâre in a hurry.
Whew, thanks for the info. My gold light will be here Monday or Tuesday. I knew the turbo was 1100â1300 lumens but I was bummed to think that I could only ramp up to 500 lumens. Glad to hear thatâs not the case.
Got my two gold lights in. Love them. Beautiful color, and excellent quality. These lights are a bargain. Some rings in the beam pattern. Super bright. My switch is tight. Thanks Tracy!!
