Emisar D4S review

This is kind of a tangent, but one small note…

The “S” in D4S is a capital letter. Same with the D1S.

Name

Quantity

Description

D1

single

one Emisar D1 light

D1s

plural

multiple Emisar D1 lights

D1S

single

one Emisar D1S light

D1Ses

plural

multiple Emisar D1S lights

D4

single

one Emisar D4 light

D4s

plural

multiple Emisar D4 lights

D4S

single

one Emisar D4S light

D4Ses

plural

multiple Emisar D4S lights

It can get a little confusing though, guessing whether a small “s” means plural or a different model, so for clarity it’s probably best to avoid the small “s” entirely and use other words around it to remove ambiguity.

… and if I ever have another client who wants to end their product name with a “S” suffix, I’ll try to steer them toward a less confusing naming scheme.

Add the aux LED photo for reference

Nice!

Wow, my custom order D4S with SST-20 3.000K 95CRI is already shipped even though it was ordered only 2-3 days before. Thank you Hank!

I will be happy to show some comparison with the beam profiles of my D4S XP-L HI V2 3A (5.000K) and D4S XP-G2 S4 3D (4.885K) later on. I’m still tempted buying another D4S with SST20 6.500K for maximum throw (58.000cd). Maybe I get to buy some of the other Ledil Angie optics with different angles.

Intl-Outdoor accepts customized LED choices for the D4S? Sounds great.

Remember to post beamshots / beam pattern / tint comparison. =)

I chose from Fireflies e07 or this. But since there have been some small complications with fireflies…
I chose D4S. So I Ordered this D4S with the new SST20 4000k 95cri with Amber aux leds.
Hank is awesome, he never fails to deliver a good flashlight. I Own two D4 and a MK43.
Shipped same day I ordered, amazing.

Very excited to to get this light. If this is good, I think I’ll ordered more.
Thanks Hank !!!

Yes, at least in terms of the SST-20 3.000K. Someone mentioned he would prefer the warmwhite SST20 3000K and Hank replied that is was feasible.
I do agree with Toykeeper that a D4S with LH351D would also be verrrry nice, though. Those Samsungs might be a great competitor to the rather floody XP-L HD version to gain even more lumens.

I’ll see what I can do i.a.w. a beamshot comparison of my three D4S. At least some whitewall and outdoor shots in the park is what I had in mind. I can also try to compare the AUX LED beams (red, cyan and amber). That reminds me I need to get one in green, too. Looking at the picture above green seems to have the highest luminance (maybe also because our eyes are most sensitive to this wavelength).

Correct me if I am wrong but I think that is backwards……LH351D would provide LESS lumens than XP-L HD or HI….& LESS lux too

Yep that was me. Did you see Hank added the 3000k SST20 as a standard option? That is really great that he is this up to speed on warm emitters; mine has shipped too, cant wait. I also have an XPL-HI 5000k and Nichia and a hybrid with XPG2 I’m looking forward to comparing them all. I wonder what else he can do with it; it’s really only been around four months.

And the SST-20, whenever someone gets one!

A bit of tech-writing nerd/nitpicking/pedantry here …

https://brians.wsu.edu/2016/05/16/acronyms-and-apostrophes/

Like it or not, apostrophes at the end of acronyms, initialisms - and by extension product codes/names such as D1, D4S, etc - is incredibly widespread. Thus, D4’s to indicate plural D4 models is perhaps more explicit than D4s with its potential for confusion with D4S and also avoids the contextual (albeit making sense from a spoken perspective) D4Ses to indicate plural D4S models. The apostrophe introduces a break not usually seen in initialisms / product names, cluing the reader into additional information - whether it’s plural or possessive is hopefully made apparent by the context.

D1S is the super/bigger variant of D1
D4S is the super/bigger variant of D4

OK folks …. poll for me …

I have green D4S with green aux (my HULK or Green Lantern light)

Ima buy a grey D4S ….

should I go Red or Cyan aux?

My initial plan was red , until Hank posted this image….

Can’t wait to see what you come up with next! :+1:

Those tricksy D4Seses

timbo114 - Not a good picture but….

I like the black/red Empire/Sith combination quite a lot.

M43S :smiling_imp:

Hmm… I dont’ have a flashlight with LH351D LED yet. Maybe can ask Hank to do a D4S with LH351D, preferably 80CRI or higher CRI (somewhere 4000K or 5000K or the mixed tint that TK mentioned, if the color temperature isn’t available…) Anyone else interested in such a configuration?

I understand the LH351D will be floody (I find the D4S quite throwy actually with its existing LEDs…)

M44S?
