How can you tell? Maybe I don’t know what to look for yet. Would be neat though. I thought everbuying was on the “poop-list” of resellers…but at that price I may have to order one.

If the OSRAM is well driven probably it will be one veeeery good deal, because as it uses Li-ion batt probably is direct driven (no circuitry) and if it has good heatsinking it will be powerfull enough, similar than other alternantives with OSRAM. Floody beam.
And, if you see carefully, the OSRAM of that light has 2 divisions. The worst OSRAMs are the ones with 5 divisions. So.... I am thinking to buy one. Pity only 1 mode

ALSO I can see that it has some kind of very small convex lens in the front, making it even more floody. It is only my guess? the LED is magnified, so it has a mini convex lens or not?
CREE and OSRAMs are very different. Is easy to differeciate between cree/osram/ssc/luminus. However differenciate between Q3 Q4 R2 is not possible without equipment

At that price one would wonder if it's got a state of the junk switch, 0 orings, plasitc lens and some obscure cree lookalike emitter and purely direct driven.

It's going to be all flood with no beam concentration - the lens you're seeing is the one that's put on the emitter to protect it from the factory. I would say that since headlamps are generally meant for up close work (working on a car, etc) this *generally* isn't an issue.
As to Osram vs. Cree, I have that exact 2 segment Osram emitter in another flashlight and once I figured out some connection issues in the driver, it's been very, very good. 100 lumens shouldn't be an issue for a decent Osram Golden Dragon.
Yes I know that OSRAM GDP have a lens (silicone dome) same as Cree or SSC. But I am talking about another convex lens just in front the led, because if you see carefully, in the photo the die and the surrounding area is magnified is it were a convex lens just in front.........
The Smiling Shark lights that I own all have very nice switches. Some o-rings may be missing, yes. I think the lens is probably an average convex lens, similar to the ones found in f2t lights (I think the material is polycarbonate).
I don't think there is any suprises to expect regarding the emitter though. The $9 version seems to be 2-mode (Hi-Strobe) Cree while the $7 version obviously is 1-mode Osram GD+. Or maybe they're both 2-mode and the description just sucks.
