[Available again! - BLF special edition light] new Sofirn AAA twisty high CRI 5mm LED

My lights arrived yesterday in the UK.

The clips are trash, but this is only a minor annoyance as there was some debate in development as to whether a clip would even be included or might cost extra.

Everything else about the lights is as I expected when I placed the order. I love the light quality - the high CRI and the almost even field (slight hotspot on the 5600, barely noticeable on the 3200, you won’t notice either if you’re not pointing it at a white wall) make it very pleasant.

The output level is interesting - it’s perhaps a little brighter and floodier than I was expecting. I was considering gifting one to a relative who needs something for reading in church but it’s too bright for that - much more than a mini maglite or the ‘low’ on my other AAA lights. Of course we’ve discussed how it’s not enough to light up a dark forest track or for search and rescue at sea. Between those extremes, however - indoor use, something to keep in the car, or for outdoor tasks such as map reading or whatever - it’s just what I want. Enough light to do the job when needed, and no risk of retinal injury.

I was looking for low-cost lights to keep in bags, jacket pockets and the car and provide decent illumination at times when I would otherwise be using my phone or the tiny light on my keychain Swiss Army knife.

If reliability and durability are as intended (and I won’t be using them as hard as some of you have been already) then this project is a triumph. Congratulations to all involved (except the muppet who was in charge of QC on the clips).

Really like the quality of mine. Like the cylinder shape too.

That is just too funny!
youre feeling the O ring!

if you put the worn down Oring from your Amazing Built E01 on your Amazing Built C01, you will get the same Amazing Feeling!

here is a guy that thinks his Fenix is worn out (the O ring gets looser with age):
Back when the Fenix E01 came out as the keychain light equivalent of sliced bread, I bought a black one and it was so nice to look at I couldn’t bear to carry it on my keys. It hung around in my gear for a year before I finally got the nerve to put it on my keys during my freshman year of college back in 2009. Today, that poor light is now nearly pure silver with a mirror finish as the anodizing has worn off. At least every few months, the head comes loose and I end up with the head and battery in a pants pocket. The batteries never seem to last whenever I carry it, even when I use lithium cells. But it’s trying, so I kept it around even as they released an array of nicer options in the years since.

Today, I once again changed the dead battery…and low and behold it still has a nice beam. While I’m sick of it as a keychain light because the head keeps twisting to and fro, either draining the battery or losing it entirely, I’d like to give it an active retirement. Where would be a good, sensible place for a dead-simple AAA tube light that isn’t in my daily rotation of on-body gear? I’m debating leaving it clipped to the top loop of my backpacking tent where it can maybe see use if my headlamp ever goes dead, or possibly lashing it to something with a larnyard like those pens at the bank. I’d love for it to just break out of warranty so I can move on, but it looks like this little guy just has to be stubborn.
FWIW, my C01 has the same “feature”, the head came off in my pocket yesterday, and I did not even have to wait for the O ring to age. This proves that the C01 and E01 have the same Amazing Quality!.. LOL!!!.

another example of the Amazing Quality of the Fenix E01

And of course the Sofirn C01 has the same Amazing Quality:

No Orings were harmed in the making of those videos… :person_facepalming:

What a great post! I like your attitude, and agree with everything you said about the barely visible little hotspot :-). Slightly surprised the light is too bright for church, but, I have not tried, so will respect your experience.

My clips are very stiff, the first thing I did was remove them… I feel like a traitor, and slightly guilty for making Sofirn include them…

Enjoy your High CRI!
Merry New Year!

Jon, I’m not dissing the C01 at all, just that the threads and o-ring on my 7-year-old ECD’d E01 ‘feel’ better. I never said one is better than the other at all.

I understand, agree, and hope you took no offense at my sense of humor.

The difference in “feel” you are experiencing (and I agree there IS a difference in feel),
is Only because of the differences in the O rings.

The “feel” has absolutely nothing to do with the threads, which are equally sloppy on both brands, as demonstrated by my rollAlight videos (which are with O rings installed btw).

you could put your Fenix head on your Sofirn body, and the “feel” will match the Fenix Body… its the O ring, not the threads… really…

dont take my word for it… check for yourself… it could be a real eye opener, it was for me

got mine today after ordering on 11-23-18.
still in shock.

Hope you will recover soon :open_mouth:

+1 . :+1:

still in shock … Hmmm, is that a good thing or bad thing??

Well, it looks like I have a long wait ahead of me. I ordered mine December 10th. It has been stuck in the GUANGZHOU Sorting Center since 12-12.

Lumintop also has a magnetic tail cap for the Tool AAA in black. I know because I ordered one. I just can’t remember who I got it from, it think it was Ebay.

I ordered November 10 and mine is also still in Guangzhou. I’m on “buyer protection” extension #3.

I wish you luck.

Mine arrived to Portugal today (supposedly)! (Ordered on 10th November)
Let’s see how long until it arrives home!
At least it is not completely lost…

Two ordered Nov. 10th just became “Dispatched”

:open_mouth: Only now they are shipping it?
Sorry for the long wait you and other members are also suffering :zipper_mouth_face:
Surely will be an old new gift for 2019!!!

It indeed a complete mystery how shipping from China sometimes works. :person_facepalming:
I ordered my CO1’s 21 November and they arrived 27 December…… 36 days.
…………

On a side note, to illustrate my point; on 11 December I placed 4 seperate orders with Banggood in the span of 20 minutes.

Each order contained 2 x Lumintop EDC01.

 • One order was sent to Cardiff Wales UK with PAID shipping & Tracking. It arrived 18 December…. 7 days.
 • One order sent to Glencoe, AL USA with FREE shipping & no Tracking. It arrived 26 December…… 15 days
 • The remaining two orders were sent to Glencoe, AL USA both with PAID shipping & Tracking. According to Tracking…. neither of those packages have even reached the USA yet…… :person_facepalming:

Soooo… this time anyway:

 • Paid Banggood shipping to the UK was pretty quick.
 • FREE Banggood shipping to the USA was pretty quick also.
 • PAID Banggood shipping to the USA was a complete waste of money. :person_facepalming:

You just never know about shipping from CHINA to the USA…. unless it is DHL of course. But that is expensive… $$$ … :money_mouth_face:

Oh yeah, the reason 4 orders were placed is because the code I used had a limit of 2 units per order. BUT… the code could be used multiple times.

Oh my. Well thanks for perspective. I hope everyone gets their orders soon.

My pleasure… for what it is worth.

It makes no sense to me why I received my CO1’S (ordered 21 November) before people who ordered 10 November. :person_facepalming:

No rhyme or reason for sure…… :frowning: .
But such are the pitfalls of shipping from China sometimes…

Hope y’all get them soon. :+1:

The more you post, the quicker they ship.

You wish….

actually, the more you post, the Longer it takes for the lights to arrive… LOL!

my lights already arrived because I “only” have about 500 posts per year

your lights have not arrived, because you make “almost” 2,500 posts per year
