L2 XHP50.2 / Driver for XHP50.2 / M1 M2 SMO reflector

If you want to DIY your L2 you have bought ,following driver is available

M1 M2 SMO reflector available now

L2 XHP50.2 is on sale now

BLF 15%off

Do you have OP reflector for the L2?

Are you going to release a driver for single cell instead of 2S?

If single cell, i will definitely buy one

Input voltage is 6-8.4v so its 2 cells in series. The driver space is big on the L2 so you have heaps of option. Should be able to fit a 22mm driver in one.

It’s nice that there are SMO reflectors, but I would prefer a AR glass for these flashlights. They have an unusual size and I have not yet found a matching one.

On two cells, the flashlight is too big. For 2400 lumens, one cell is enough.

On two cells, your flashlight gets more runtime and better efficiency. Also, you avoid noise issues prevalent in most boost drivers.

I killed a XHP50.2 with a 3A boost driver (from KD) , the XHP50.2 may be extra sensitive to whatever boost drivers do with a led.

I test orange peel reflector for L2 before.
The beam is greenish,too
And I have xhp50 driver sample for single cell, Diameter is 22mm, It’s a little large.
I asked host factory to design 21700 L2 version, Diameter of the head is 55mm,( Diameter of the L2 head is 64mm), The sample can be used in 21700 L2

I will ask lens factory to produce some ar coated,

for 2 S I also got a proper buck driver with NarsilM, or Toykeepers firmwares

but that one can crank out a lot more amps to the LED tested up to 8A pushing the XHP50.2 to the limit
above 5k OTF lumens

Simon, why make the head of the 21700 L2 smaller?

Simon, can you please confirm the pricing of your SMO reflectors? Am I correct that 2 pcs of the M1/M2 SMO reflectors cost $ 5.34 while 1 pc would cost $ 4.32, i.e. if I buy 2 instead of 1 it would only cost $ 1.02 more? It's a bit confusing as AliExpress uses the "price / piece" term. Thank you!

It may seem strange, but this is actually regular pricing.

This is to incentivize buying in bulk so price/unit go down significantly as you buy more units.

yes, you understand it correctly ,This is because the cost of shipping is too high, but if you buy more, the average shipping cost per item is less, so the more you buy, the cheaper it is.

Just to keep the coordination, of course, I can also let the manufacturer keep the head diameter unchanged,
what’s your opinion?

Thank you Simon! That's good to know. I'll then take at least 5 pcs of each version (M1/M2). ;-)

I would appreciate it to leave the head diameter as is. Especially, in terms of differentiation to the Convoy C8+ it would make sense to keep the current reflector size or even increase it a bit. The L2 with SMO would nicely fit to the Osram KW CSLPM1.TG, a.k.a. "White Flat 2mm²", driven at 8A with 1,400 lumens. The only problem left is to find a proper 20mm buck driver for 1S and 2S operation that can supply enough current to the LED.

Concerning XHP35 operation in the L2:

There is a driver from KD (Kaidomain) that - in its latest revision - can run the XHP35 up to 1A even though it is not specified for 12V operation.

http://kaidomain.com/Flashlight-DIY-and-Tools/Circuit-Board-Driver-Board/S026606-H1-A-20mm-3A-1-cell-1-Mode-or-5-Mode-Boost-Driver-Circuit-Board-for-Cree-XHP50-6V-MT-G2-MK-R2

I have already asked BanL from Kaidomain how to overdrive this driver. So far, the XHP35 will run in a Sofirn C8S with up to 1,700 lumens but not beyond due to insufficient forward voltage.

What is the difference in the M1 vs M2 reflector? Material? One is quite a bit heavier.
Edit- figured it out. Model numbers for different lights. Duh.

Is it possible to get 5000 mA output ?
