Sofirn SP36, impressions of a sample

Ahh that one. I thought it’s a different kind of protection. Thanks eh

Hey guys, the SP36 are available on amazon us. Any interested, please PM us for surprise price

hey guys. its me again. yay! my sofirn has arrived!! . tried changing the settings etc and im happy with the ramping mode haha. anyways . i changed the thermal to temp based haha. i dont think its wise to change it to 3 minutes haha. its because sometimes its hot here so 60seconds are enough time to make it so hot lol. anyways… my vtc6 works just fine without a magnet. tried turbo for a few and measured the voltage each. and its the same. so it is draining thru all of em at the same time. im really impressed so far haha. also . i have a suggestion for later batches or newer model. add PD (power delivery) support for charging the flashlight. why is it important? because most C-C charger is PD . (Apple charger etc) and how it works , is that it wont give ANY power until it detects a handshake or i guess sometimes a resistor works as a pulldown so it will know that a device is plugged in… anyways. i guess i could just use usb A male to usb C female adapter for now. also another note is to widen the charging port. like not the port itself but the surrounding… some of my cables dont fit. oh and yeah the best i can get is about 7-8watts over the usb. its nice .i guess that is for now… i will add things if it comes to me.

Do you plan on producing the SP36 in other tints and with Andúril?

I wouldn't take any risks that voltage will always be the same using flat top cells. There's always the chance that one or more cells will not have proper contact and might be drained less than the rest, i.e. eventually you might be facing sudden voltage equalization which in return can result in collapsed springs. But it's up to you to take the risk or not. ;-)

+1, I'd not recommend flat tops - you really don't know what's happening in real time.

yeah guys. i wouldnt use it if i have button tops vtc6 or 30q seller here. the only good battery with button top which is real and not fake is the ncr18650b . so yeah. and why dont i just use my magnets? ive tested the magnet. and on high amperage, i could see voltages drop. noticeable enough it makes me just dont want to use it if it works fine without it . but yeah . i see. i’ll think about putting the magnets later…

Please don’t use magnets!
They can move when you screw the head on and short a battery. Not save at all.

A better way is to solder a solder blob on top of each battery.

i have no solder experience. and yeah i know its not save as it can move around. thats why if i were to use magnets, i will glue the side and let it dry for 1-2 days on constant fan so it wouldn’t move like at all.

So, you can't order BT cells from GearBest, BangGood, or AliExpress? Not sure where you are but that is a place I don't want to live, ever...

many on Gearbest Bangood or aliexpress are fake. and even if its real. the shipping cost is like . much more expensive than the batteries itself. some dont even ship it to my country… and yeah its hard to buy things here. mainly things that arent really that popular… like i said in a few post ago. we have vtc6 only in flat top because well many use it for vaping etc…

As far as I know, these are not fake: https://www.banggood.com/4PCS-Samsung-INR18650-30Q-3000mAh-Unprotected-Button-Top-18650-Battery-p-1067185.html?rmmds=search&cur_warehouse=CN, and these are the ones you want. $24.80 shipped to US.

I think I've bought them, pretty sure many others did as well - did not hear anything of fake 30Q's. More recently I've been using a couple of eBay stores in the US to buy quantities - never a problem.

as i said before , it cant be shipped to here . :stuck_out_tongue:

here is what it said on the page : (CN) This warehouse can not ship to your location.

which is?…(curious)

My location?? :stuck_out_tongue: Indonesia hahaha. and im living in the main city of Indonesia lol.

There are some folks from Indonesia on the forum, they may know how to get buttontop batteries.

ah would love some but idk . right now im kinda fine with my Pana B’s and VTC6s hahaha

@white7561:

To make a long story short - you have been given a lot of good advice from BLF members to refrain from using flat tops or - even worse - flat tops with glued magnets in flashlights like the SP36. I really recommend to take the advice as you could encounter severe damage to your SP36, your batteries and - most important - your own life. Lithium-Ion cells are no toys and have to be treated with appropriate caution. I'm sure there is somewhere to get 30Q or VTC6 button top cells in Indonesia. Since you said you were living in a big city chances are not too bad to find someone on BLF who can help you to put a solder blob on your flat tops.

yeah. i guess you’re right …

Hey guys . So anyone knows the CRI for the LEDs? Of course I’m not using it for all time photography but it’ll be nice to take a pic or two once a while with it lighting things up haha. Thanks !

Edit : My research on the XP-L2 says that it should be atleast 70 in CRI? . Do we know what’s the CRI is in our flashlight?
