ENEDED

Only unprotected (flat and button top) 18650 are supported in Astrolux MF-series. Battery carrier does come with reverse polarity protection (plastic insulators near pin contacts) against batteries being loaded in wrong orientation. I would advise to add extra markings to your batteries, to help you identify the (+) and (-) poles if you are worried.

hi guys,

happy new year to all.

i am still waiting for the delivery of the charger for the SAMSUNG 30Q battery… in the meantime i am search fo the multimeter.

this is a good choice?

or better the alternative suggested previously (the MUSTOOL have better price at the moment)

@atomico, actually, if you order on the app, the price is much lower

Interested like some others on price. Thanks

As long as it has auto off, beep for continuity and a bag/pouch of some kind to carry everything in, I’m not too picky. I have a VC97+. Two of them actually.

thanks for the good news BlueSword,

i check immediately

EDIT

yes, better price

ordered, many thanks for the suggestion

hi guys,

i am still waiting for the charger for the samsung battery… very long delivery time…

in the meantime (and with delay, because i am out for vacancy) i have check the battery received from banggood… i do no see nothing of interest, all look good… BUT… there is one cell that have a little swelling (i hope this is the right word)

looked whit eye is not visible, but when i touch the battery with my hand i feel the difference… i have grabbed a photos, i hope that the protuberance is visible…

what you think? i have to contact banggood and ask for change the single cell? or it’s normal?

if the multimeter (waiting for delivery) show good parameter for the cell, i am ok?

and last, seems that the IMALENT battery can be used inside the MF-01 (apparently the battery are the SAMSUNG re-wrapped)… also (and if i read/remember well) the MF-02 accept PROTECTED battery… it’s correct?
and again, i read that i can made a light with two head: MF-01 and MF-02… it’s possible? trow and flood at the same time…

thanks to all.

@atomico, this is normal.

This is only the clear wrap around the battery which has not been installed well.

There is no concern over this.

many thanks

It is probably the seam of the clear heat shrink. You can probably tighten it up. Just use a heat gun or hair dryer.

Is there any working code now? After that time, any complains abput light?

good evening to all,

i read the review of the ASTROLUX MF-02 in this forum… it’s a very nice light and looks impressive for the throw distance (and price is very reasonable)

for what i read, the MF-02 seems to accept PROTECTED cells batteries… right?

i googled and find IMALENT 18650 are SAMSUNG 30Q rewrapped, this is a good choice i can imagine…

and now (yes, again) the question for the MF-01: looking the pictures of the MF-02 i see the battery holder is really similar to the MF-01… so… i can use IMALENT cells???

yes, i ask previously for this, but it’s sure that i can not use the protected cells? both have 15A of drain… the problem is the protection circuit of the cell?

thanks guys for all suggestion and the BIG PATIENCE…

still waiting for the charger… damn… very long time for delivery… i want to see these 12000 lumen…

Yes the Imalent MRB-186P30 do work in the MF01 like a charm. They’re actually the only protected cells I’ve found so far that do work. Not because of the rated amperes but because of their thickness. The MF01 has quite a narrow tube, so most protected cells won’t work just because they physically don’t fit into the lamp…

BTW, anyone had trouble with water proofness so far? Flooded mine today while holding it 5cm under the water… Those O-Rings seem so be quite minimal and the slightest dust or debris will allow them to flood :frowning: Thankfully it was only the battery carrier getting wet and after drying everything worked again…

@seldor, I would advise putting silicone grease in the threads. This will help a lot, since you can make it airtight with it.

How much current does it take on turbo? Couldn’t find it fast in thread. I have beed trying light with Sanyo GA and Sony VTC5A and no noticable difference in beam.

This light uses a boost driver so the output should be regulated.

It will not go into Turbo once the battery voltage has dropped to a certain point.

The GA has more voltage sag under load compared to the VTC5A, so it will not have as much total Turbo run time. If you want the most total run time on Turbo, use unprotected high drain cells.

On Turbo, it can draw at least 8A per battery.

I know, I test many cells, 8 per cell, than it is 16A all current on turbo?
VTC5A are one one of strongest 18650, but GA have more capacity when on lower modes.

Because the batteries are 2S2P, if you use 4 batteries, it is 16A at 6v.

If you use 2 batteries it will try to draw 16A from each one.

If I use 2 batteries 2s1p it will still take 16A as it is overall current drain I assume? You make it less clear with this explanation. I asked if overall current drain is 16A? It is clear, that if you say 8A/cell than it should be 16A/2p.
