I see both points here however after this amount of time (since 5/2017 when it was originally proposed) disappearing from posts all together with no update good or bad is disappointing. Hank proposed his idea of having a super throw version of the D1S and when he came to the conclusion that it was not feasible he came out and said sorry no go. If the light is having issues tell us. I think most if not all BLF members will appreciate communication in this regard.
Could it be manufacturing decisions determining that Fritz needed to make a design alteration regarding tube wear lead to a conflict, or at least varying views ?
Though precision is a concept that Chinese manufacturing has been learning to dominate very well, could the realities of hand made skilled craftsmanship find conflict with mass market production realities ?
I see both sides as well. My Emisar D4 does what this light is proposed to do, so itās not like Iām going to be at a loss if this light never happens. This is a hobby for 99% of us so we definitely should respect other peopleās decision if they go ācold turkeyā and leave the hobby. Obviously we canāt force a member to make lights for us
For me, it rubs me that they still log in, possibly even reads this thread, yet refuse to chime in on anything. If Fritz hadnāt logged in since his last post in 2018, we could all assume he gave up the hobby, or worse, and we could move on. But every month when he logs in, weāre reminded he is still here, just chooses not to speak. Which for me, is frustrating considering how close to the finish line we are.
Someone mentioned disappointment.
It is indeed disappointing that this project seems to be grinding to a halt.
And even if it doesnāt grind to a halt, itās disappointing there is little to no progress at the moment, and that the main players seem to have disappeared.
Needless to say that nobody is obliged to do anything they donāt want to do anymore.
I get that no one owes us anything. No money has been laid out, only a āIām in for oneā. You think that from a marketing standpoint, keeping us updated from time to time would be good business sense. Hundreds of requests already with no communication, just think what it could be with an occasional update.
That looks amazing tatasal. Lets get this moving to production.
I agree a hobby is for fun. But when a project like this is made public, we all get excited to see the finished product.
To not get stressed and bombarded with messages from members its best to keep the idea private so no one knows until it is ready to ship if that is the plan
Teacher, you arenāt old enough to remember that.
The light does look great.
I keep thinking how cool a 18650 light this small would be.
I sure hope it still happens.
I sometimes wish I werenāt old enough to remember cabfrank. :person_facepalming: .
IIRC, I think I would have been in about the 4th grade at that time.
Yep, those pictures are very impressive!! Iām hoping so too.
In fact, despite everything; I think it will.
