Review: Skyray King (3xXM-L - 4x18650)

Hi Richie,

That would have been a good explanation, but no. My DRY doesn't have the stepdown feature, as you can see in the ceiling bounce graph. My DRY was brighter only during the first 1s or something, it sags a bit after that.

I'm glad you liked my photos. :)

Thank you _The_ for the clarification

That is a really nice looking light. I especially like that it has NO BATTERY CARRIER! Many other companies could follow suit but are too lazy to make the specialized curved battery container.

While looking at the pictures in DrJones' thread, I noticed that my NW King doesn't have the SkyRay King markings in the head. Good for me, since I think it looks way better without. :)

It's kind of funny that no one noticed it so far.

Maybe that's why I don't have the switch issues either.. ;)

Ps. I went for a walk yesterday and used the King for about 10 minutes continuously on high. Ambient temperature was about +3°C, so the King survived that runtime by being only mildly warm. I really like this light!

Interesting! what I did notice, is that your BOX doesn't say SkyRay and has a strange symbol, but didn't note the flashlight :)

Can anyone please measure the thickness and diameter of the lens please? I was wondering about the possibility of getting an UCL lens for this

Hi Xed...diameter is 54.87mm and thickness is 3.03mm.

Thanks Richie!

Similarly, the Balder SE-1 I received from CNQG had no markings (no branding) and there was even a used Ultrafire battery inside. I'm wondering if he sent a review sample.

I'm about to buy this from Tmart with free shipping. Any reason why I shouldn't (finger getting itchy!!!)

Because it's not NW.

+1

But it's cool white, and isn't that brighter?

It’s brighter, but tint depends on the person. Personally, I don’t like NW. Mine is from LightMalls (USD71 now) and it seems to be similar to 1C or 1A tint.

They are both T6 and theoretically should perform the same. However the cool white will look slightly brighter to the human eye.

Does NW have a better illuminating effect, sort of like an incan?

Better color rendering and easier on the eyes. Cool white=more lumens but colors get grayed out. I was nuts enough to order one anyway!

Example: I do the "chocolate lab" test... she is brown and I have a black GSD/Lab mix. So when I test lights when I pee them at night, Abby (chocolate) looks all grayed out and flat with a cool and she looks her natural reddish-brown with a neutral.

Verdict: Best tint of all is the LED Supply 4000K neutral XP-G triple, runner-up is their 4500K XM-L. *Every* other neutral XM-L I've tried has been too greenish in comparison.

Also, cool at night sets me on edge a little. Don't like fluorescents either-makes me crabby. (not difficult!) Neutrals are much nicer. I'll take a cool if I go in the car and/or during the day for absolute max output.

The tint of the Skyray neutral is good, but not quite as nice as the LED Supply emitter. Still, you won't be disappointed... I love mine.

JMO.

Rich

Hey rusty joe, I read somewhere here that t-mart doesn't have them instock and an employee told someone here that they shouldn't order until they are in stock.

Woohoo! Just got it!

Just saw that. Ordered from Lightmalls. Thanks.
