You are steering away from discussing Maglite VS Quantum. While Maglite might be more USA made BUT NOT completely. Maglite can not state ” Proudly 100% USA made ” No way. Because? Not all CORE components are 100% sourced here in USA.
Quantum is of course China made. Decent output and more than half price of Maglite? A WINNER for sure.
A “Winner” for You maybe.
But I will put that HF light up against a couple Defiant Flashlights from Home Depot for way less, like $8 on clearance that have real Cree emitter if you want to compare china to china.
No HF flashlight will beat the Defiant Super thrower, verse yourself on those reviews and mods here on the mighty BLF then go find one on Epay and you will never brag your HF light again.
Right here;
This was before you were joined to BLF so you get a pass for maybe not knowing about possibly the best department store flashlight on the past 6 years.
Peace
Butt ya know watt I just realized is even more amusing?
The OP thinks 536 Lumens coming out of a BAF (Big Azz Flashlight) is really sumthing!
Does he realize there are single AA sized flashlights coming outta Beijing these days putting out more lumes than this 3D Quantum? I mean this is prolly NOT the best Mag Slayer model ya wanna parade around here, MM.
I’m just really trying HARD to get EXCITED about this incredible amazing offering tho’.
……(Oh Gaw’d jest lemme catch me breath fer a sec, ok…… )……
PS. OOPS! It’s actually 534 lumens. I overstated this mighty Mag substitute by 2 lumes.
I’ve got nothing to critique about the Harbor Freight flashlight. I’ve never tried it. I’m just lost as to why the comparison against Maglites took the turn it did.
Does Maglite claim to be 100% made in the USA? I don’t recall ever seeing that.
I do know they have a gripe with California law, because it forbids claiming “Made in the USA” if any part of a product is made outside the US, in contrast with federal law and 49 other states, which require they be “substantially” or some similar term with unclear, but implied meaning that is left for the courts to interpret.
Get off your rocker guy. I owned many Defiant lights. See my postings guy. China built for sure. I own quite few high powered lights listed below. Just some of them.
I assume you mean “100% made in the USA products,” but you’ve repeated just “100% made products” several times, so it seems worth clarifying.
Anyways, what brands have a higher percentage of made in the USA content than Maglite?
Maybe Surefire? I don’t know. If I remember right, Streamlight is assembled in the USA, but from what I’d read in the past, it sounded like nearly all of the components were foreign sourced.
And I reiterate my puzzlement from above: why are we going in circles on this discussion? I have so far been unable to find any place where Maglite claims to the 100% made in the USA.
None of the components your computers or smartphones have (that are being used here right now) are 100% made in the USA. Heck none of them are even 5% made in USA components. Oh well…
I picked up one of these Quantum Work Light jobs… LINK. Actually not bad for $7. It doesn’t have that enormous obnoxious “Quantum” label as shown in 1st photo — it’s actually quite a bit smaller. Not much of a spread in brightness for the 2 modes, but still usable. The magnetic tailcap is strong. Has a clip with hook hole in it. All metal body feels reasonably rugged, but plastic covering over COB array is rather junky.
There’s a more expensive model by “Braun” (not the German company) that’s $39.95. Looks pretty decent, with 390 lumens, 360 degree pivoting head, and it’s rechargeable with lithium ion cell (they don’t say what type—maybe 18650?).
I did buy a folding one for less, almost as bright, but also has a forward pointing 5mm LED for minor task work. Actually a pretty good deal. GearBest has one.
