How a Zippo Armor lighter should have been made

Thought about trying one of those out…are those lighters still holding up for you? Good battery life?

Yes they work much better when the air is replaced with fuel
Looks like it will require some experimentation to get the flow just right.

Shipping took only around eight months I think
No, prob around three weeks or so.

What model did you order?

I hardly ever use ’em (don’t smoke), but they hold their charge quite well. Never had to recharge it yet, and it still fizzes out a good spark.

I was gonna say, my heart dropped when I heard 8 months. Ha! you got me there.

I ordered the titanium one you linked to in the first post in this thread.

Same as mine, copycat huh
Nice choice, I think you’ll like it :+1:

You will get some extra o-rings with it but will need more eventually, so 0.5mm watch gaskets work with these, can’t remember what size exactly but I bought a multipack with various sizes in it to keep me going.
Keep the seal clean with a very very light smear of silicone grease on it too.
Also I use extra long swan flints.

Yeah you caught me, I debated in my head for going with the Zorro with the same design but the thought why not! I found all the other titanium made ones a bit gordy and yours the best option. Plus you were the guinea pig.

Flints are not a problem teaming with them around the place, Zippo, Clipper, Ronson, generic.

I keep my lighter on me as more a just if need be I am not a smoker, I am hoping it fits in my current leather belt holder thingy my current Zippos in but I am just sick of refilling it every two weeks.

It seems the Chinese are into their lighters, I am surprised the tanks haven’t taken off out there.

Now the wait begins.

Man, what a journey it’s been trying to get one of these Zorro War Armor lighters! I wanted one of the silver ones. I went to the site Steve linked to in his original post but they were out of them. I found one in another AE store and ordered it.

I won’t go into detail here but after 2 1/2 months, I put in a dispute and got my money refunded. I checked the site where Steve got his again and they had the silver, (chrome), back in stock. I ordered it.

Well, here we go again! About 2 weeks after I paid, they finally listed it as shipped. Now, almost 3 weeks later, nothing. The tracking number they provided doesn’t exist. I’ve checked every tracking site there is and nothing.

If I ever receive this elusive lighter, it’ll be a miracle!

I grabbed one from Page Not Found - Aliexpress.com and it took about 3 1/2 weeks to arrive in Oregon. Came in today. Looks and works great.

That’s the exact same AE store I ordered it from this second time around. Still nothing. Glad you had good luck!

Yeah Steve, maybe third time’s the charm! :rage:

Just wondering Masejoer, did they provide you with a functioning tracking number after you purchased it? Thanks.

About 2 months ago I ordered from the same store and received everything. Just as a note, color 4 came as model 912s - 202 g of brass and strangely one wall was 2.5m, the other - 3.5 mm. The seller couldn’t answer me if this is normal and if I order same color- shall I receive 912 or 912s. Don’t want to throw another 30 bucks to find the answer:)

I just received in two polished brass Zorros 912’s from:

Seems like they were a steal at £13.23 each and took 13 days to arrive. Price has gone up but seller was extremely fast getting here from China to South Wales. Same price as as standard Zippo from Amazon.

They’re bloody heavy, beefy things!

The tank for my Titanium arrived safely from Japan today too, seems very good Zippo like construction, will not be testing till my Titanium arrives.

Still waiting on my Titanium armour lighter, it seems to have arrived in the Netherlands so not long, that should be okay to carry on my belt.

Cheers all!

do you think these zorros fit these?

waterproof case

It’s just a case and you provide the insert. Looks a bit OTT to me.

Just wanted to say the Zorro’s are now on sale again for £12.97. Will probably take a bit longer with Lunar New Year coming up on Tuesday.

Didn’t get an alert about a response to my post. Anyway, no, they didn’t provide a valid tracking number. There is a tracking number, but it doesn’t track anywhere. USPS tracking would be the most helpful, but mine still says “Label Created, not yet in system”, although I received the lighter last month.

Ordered 3 more from the link in the previous post. Just another thing to “collect”, but these will be handy to have. Never owned lighters, even disposables, but they would be handy a few times every month. I guess we have had some of those long-neck non-refillable ones, but I never use them.

Same here. Both times: “Label created, not yet in system”. Still waiting.

Wanted to bring this up again as I FINALLY received one! What a journey it was to get it!

I received the chrome plated one and this thing is a BRICK! It’s so heavy, it would make a nice weapon as you could throw it at someone and incapacitate them. I don’didn’t notice anyone who purchased one describing it’s weight but maybe I missed it.

If I was going to carry this, I would have gone the expensive route like Steve did and bought the Ti model.

This is more of a table lighter due to it’s weight. I have to admit, the construction is first rate. Everything about it is quality.

Has Steve or anyone filled this with lighter fluid and a regular Zippo and see if this holds the lighter fluid much longer than a Zippo? This has an O-ring in the lid like Steve said in his original post to seal it more securely than a Zippo. What I always hated about Zippo’s is the fluid dried out in a matter of days or in a couple of weeks. Hopefully this will let less fluid escape.

Remember that scene in Kevin Costner’s movie “The Postman”? He came across a postal vehicle where the driver had been dead so long he was a skeleton but found a Zippo lighter that still worked!

Anyway, this is a quality lighter that’s too heavy to carry around unless you’re packing it in a survival bag or whatever.

Glad you eventually received it.
I did say it is a fair chunck of brass, a lot heavier at 150g versus the zippo’s 55g.
150g weighs about the same as 150g or 5.3oz, so easy to compare
The full ti version with fuel tank which I carry is 109g, I find that a nice weight.
I agree the brass does feel extra heavy.

My brass version sits on the worktop with fuel in it with the standard insert, doesn’t get used much but seems to retain the fuel for months.
