I am thankful for being born at the right time just before the birth of rock music.
My earliest music memories were my older brothers playing their Elvis and Cliff Richard and The Shadows records. I remember when I heard the Beatles for the first time on the radio, and soon after that, the Rolling Stones.
The great thing about that time was that we listened to the great rock legends while they were still alive.
We anticipated the release of their new albums and couldn’t wait to buy them.
Sadly, we also read in the news when they died, like Jimi, Janis, Jim Morrison, and John Lennon.
We also discovered a lot of these bands when they released their first album.
Discovered this little gem last week. This track is very well produced and includes some nice low end bass, in addition to being a decent song. For this reason, it is often used to audition speakers, assuming you can find it on a CD or get a hold of a lossless version.
Been a huge fan of Canned Heat since the late 1960’s. This classic lineup was my favorite. Bob “The Bear” Hite, Alan “Blind Owl” Wilson”, Henry “Sunflower” Vestine, Larry “The Mole” Taylor, and Adolfo “Fito” de la Parra. Can’t forget Harvey “The Snake” Mandel when Henry left the band.
This is one of the many tunes I loved by them.
Another version of Walking By Myself done live by Gary Moore. Great version!
Good base Glenn for Walking By Myself,
Two more performances of this song:
Walking by myself - Jimmy Rogers - maybe the first record of this song - 1956;
and the original
T-Bone Walker - Why not
WOW, never heard those versions before. Simply amazing!
Johnny Winter also does a good version on White Hot and Blue.
Updating my Mp3 arsenal in the car, i cant believe i totally forgot my Blackfoot records, where a few are absolutely must have albums.
Marauder being one of them.
Have this album in Quad version first one that made my JVC 4VR-5446 receiver light up the CD4 indicator.
Thanks for the reminder of needing to give it another listen.
Wow! A quad system. That technology didn’t last long. I went to a stereo store in the early to mid 70’s that had a quad system setup. It was pretty impressive.
All we knows who is Ronnie James Dio.
I would like to add just one piece - the first and maybe only one memorial of the hero…
The World’s Only Ronnie James Dio Memorial
No comment about the quality of monument…
It’s the same place where July Morning starts as is a national celebrating here in Bulgaria…
Early MTV days vibes YES gave me
