ENDED

yeah get sofirn to take over this project

I definitely interest in this design.

good news

Interested.

Is it possible to revitalize the project on cheaper emitters XHP50? 3*XHP50 or 4*XHP50?
MT03 and MT09 there were enough reviews about the problems with the quality and reliability of the driver. This means that the market niche is empty. 3*XHP50 or 4*XHP50 no one has yet released in mass production.
These would be very practical lights, powerful and without problems with overheating.

Looks cool with more fins! I don’t know who made this but it looks like Manker style.

I remain interested if some day it’s decided to resume the project.

Meaning??

Definitely meeds more fins for dissipation. MT03 got the fins done right.

I interested , depending on price.

Thanks!

Canceled project. Sorry.

Gearbest did quit. Don’t know how many still want it….

I’d say a few would still get it

This is my first time seeing this project. I’d say it’s worth picking up. It’s enough different than the Q8 in both form and function, IMHO. I haven’t read through the thread. Someone may have already mentioned, but I will say it anyway: it will probably be better to have orange peel reflectors to help dissipate the probable donut effect from the quad-die emitters.

EDIT: I just did a “Search in thread” and saw that the reflector was supposed to be changed to orange peel already. Just the prototype in the first post has a smooth reflector.

An affordable triple CREE XHP70.2 package would still be attract lot attentions from BLFers.

Doesn’t the Haikelite MT03 TA already fulfill this role?

There are definitely more room for newer designs for this class of light. Form factor has to be smaller than MT03. Around HaikeLite Q30 size and price maybe?

Some problems with the driver were discovered by members of the forum.

Note, this might only apply to the MT09R. -
The original drivers were breaking a lot. These were later replaced by some that Texas_Ace designed. The 50 or so that TA built personally worked 100%. The ones Haikelite build still had problems. Maybe due to counterfeit components? Plus they still had other quality control problems such as the pins in the tail cap breaking off, contacts shorting in the tail cap, stripped screws, etc… I really don’t know if they ever got all this sorted out. Replacement parts took forever for people to get. Some are probably still waiting.

So Haikelite is not exactly creating positive thoughts with people.

As far as differentiating the UT03 from the MT03 I found this size comparison.

Astrolux MF01, Haikilite MT03, Utorch UT03.

At the time of the Group Buy, the UT03 had a projected cost of only $50. So being cheaper, smaller, prettier and still good quality (yet to be determined) you can see why it was so desirable. I definitely wanted one.

I saw the same complaints at MT09 and at MT03 - the flashlight cannot be turned off completely and the glow gradually increases.
Earlier there was a blinking of emitters. I am against such a lottery.
