Infinitely Variable Brightness 1 x AA Headlamp 1050Lumens

Good question and catch.
Perhaps similar unanswered questions or those involving members ever taking control back of this forum have something to do with the following business attitude prevailing in our soon to fail trade negotiations:

I would keep the significant questions coming until they are all answered in every single thread or expect nothing different.

Hmm. This might be my first AceBeam purchase. I love everything about my Nichia Manker E03H except long-press for off. Anybody have both and can compare the two?

Edit: It would be nice to have the emitter in the center, instead of offset, better firmware on the AceBeam, and better low modes with a 14500 all look like advantages of the H40 (to me, anyway).

And from what I’ve read, AceBeams are generally higher quality builds than most Mankers, right?

Well ya’ll talked me into one. I don’t even need a headlamp.

I’m skeptical. I suspect Thrunite is giving the weight with the headband and Acebeam is giving the weight without it. Parametrek shows a 1g difference between the two with NiMH battery and headband.

…at least you didn’t say (here) that you wouldn’t buy it…and then bought it anyways. :person_facepalming:

I’ll put you down for not needing one because you never had one…just because it sounds better.

My Thrunite TH20 weighs 43 grams w/o battery. The headband weighs 33 grams.

I PM'd Acebeam and they verified that the 34 gram weight given in their description of the H40 is for the flashlight only - not the headband or battery. So I made a gross error stating that the TH20 is more than twice the weight of the HC40. Sorry if I misled anyone into making a purchase of the H40 based on my mistake. I screwed up.

In a separate PM,. AceBeam answered my question about the type of regulation used for the H40. It's "constant current."

I have to say that I am impressed at the quick turn around I got from AceBeam on my twp PMs. Looking forward to the arrival of my H40. I will probably end up running it with a Ni-MH battery.

It still does not explain the weird runtime differences between Li-Ion and NiMH on low setting, IMO.

Great to hear that it’s constant current. How do they achieve this with a ramping UI?

Your assumption of my never having a headlamp has failed you. I have headlamps. Not this particular one but, I have a few. I don’t have a AA/14500 headlamp. Might use them more often if they didn’t feel like I actually strapped a 18650 light to my forehead. So my sentence of, “I don’t even need a headlamp” did in no way convey that I never had or currently have one.

Just ordered mine Today…it will be here Today…i will post an Unboxing Tonight.

Just got mine along with some Eneloops but I’m going to run a 14500 in it.
SST-20 95CRI looks similar to the ROT66 SST-66 95….

The 3 blinks at the top of the ramp and the 2 blinks at the bottom are kind of annoying. But maybe it won’t be as I really put it to use later.

The internet doesn’t express emotion very well….it was a joke  ….we ‘all’ say that we “don’t even need”… :innocent: (sorry for the confusion)

Every question deserves an answer “IMO”…

…looking forward to both of your thoughts. I like the ramping on my TH20 after getting used to it. Easier to explain to somebody borrowing it as well.

The first thing I did after unboxing my H40 today was weight it on my kitchen scale. The flashlight (sans battery) weighted 37 grams, and the headband weighted 45 grams - for a total of 85 grams.

The headband is very beefy and hold the flashlight well. I've only worn the assembly a couple of minutes, but the flashlight seems almost unnoticeable on my forehead - which is going to work well for me.

I’ve removed some bulk from the whole setup. I just removed the top headband strap. Doesn’t seem necessary for such a small light.

Yeah it seemed odd…glad you cant take it off.

The XPL HD is a nasty tint…just like the Thrunite…SMH, ON Turbo its not to bad…but high and below is nasty.

I agree but If I had to pick one ..

I'd let my eyes adjust to light rather than pick a light my brain has to try to adjust to ...but yeah ...both.

I like the look of it .Now I need to stop looking .
