First new knife in a while, and my first Automatic!
Boker+ Automat Kalashnikov 74
I handled one at a show a few weeks ago and liked the knife, but they only had the serrated model, and I hate serrated edges on pocketknives. Ordered online instead, getting the spear-point non-serrated blade. I like the size, the tan finish, grip, etc. Nice snap when opening, but the release button was a bit rough at first. Spent a lot of time playing with it, and it’s gotten a lot smoother.
It’s got an excellent deep-carry clip, but my biggest complaint is that it’s tip-up only.
I picked up this lil hunter from Mike Yurco, an Ohioan who sells some of his wares at the local knife shop. I needed a smaller hunter and was there shopping for a mid size Bark River but I’d looked at this particular blade about 4 months ago and was able to use that to talk them down a very good amount (>30% off the sticker price).
The pins are something I’ve never seen before, begging to be drilled out and have trits installed.
I got THESE TWO today. They are the first knives I have ever ordered from China and to tell the truth I was pleasantly surprised. Shocked really.
I still have to check the edge retention, scope them to see if they are really D2, and check the Rockwell on them…… but what I have seen so far I am impressed.
If they ‘check out’…. I’ll Really Be Impressed!! .
SanRenMu 710, blackwash version with the meteor/big cat thing. Pleasantly surprised, I thought it would be too heavy but could not let it pass for the price.
I’ve always disregarded it, I thought of it as knife I would never get because of the weight of the steel framelock. A few quirks aside, I’ve been carrying it more than my 910+, which I love by the way.
Thanks for the info Boro & Kindle. … I really do like that. Perfect size too. Gotta get one…. :).
. EDIT: Got one on the way!! Thanks for sharing guys….
Me……“because I’ma gonna kill dem f deer and you are going to gut them”.
Wife….“in your dreams”.
Why is it that woman can’t understand that a 7” Ka-bar is more useful then an 11” blade?
So tomorrow, I’m heading to SR knives to check out some 6-7 inch knives. After all, the last time I bought a good knife, I had 2 more inches of hair line……
