Manafont.com My first try at pictures Cracked head on my new TF-1200 body Threads are pretty sloppy + loose--- Manafont says it is still functional and does not need to be repaired This would be hard to sell and not a very nice gift. Plus it bothers me looking at it. What do you think I should do ? exchange - points - partial refund - live with it

The ano damage seems par for the course, but the sloppy threads would concern me if functionality is affected.

How much of a partial refund are they offering? If it's enough, then you could possibly re-sell the light here at little-to-no loss.

Also, WELCOME TO THE BLF !!! Please feel free to post up in the "Pet Thread" as well - there are a ton of animal lovers on the board.

True dat. Happy St. Pat's! This is Bailey, my little Irish Lass.

My picture doesn't show it very well but it's not bad ano but a crack thru the threads. The casting at the end of the crack is a little porous maybe a weak spot. The carton was nearly cut thru at the head probably from impact with something. Black makes the crack hard to see but on the top picture you can see light thru the edge

You deserve a replacement with no BS from Manafont.

Send them the URL of this thread.

We'll be watching.

+1

thanks stevetexas --- blems don't bother me to much, if they get used they get scratched but broken is different. I'm using a DX 5X R2 drop-in -- maybe find it a new home in a 4D maglight. Only pulls 1.5 amps with 2 blue trustfire 18650's so it won't get too hot I hope

I'm not big on returns\replacements for the minor stuff I see a lot on here but I have to agree with this. We will be watching, Manafont gets more than it's fair share of good press here. IMO not always deserved.

I'm fast running out of patience with Manafont C/S right about now.

I just ordered a couple things from Manafont today and we'll see how things go. I haven't had any problems with my dozen or so orders from them but that was all from last year. My last order from them was Sep. 2011 so we'll see what happens with todays order.

It took about 2 months and a lot of emails back and forth between me/CS/Jim before I got them to send me the correct drop-in I had ordered. Undecided It's obviously damaged though and would warrant replacement.

I wonder if the the CS team probably didn't read your email thoroughly or look at the pictures closely enough to realize that it was really a crack through the aluminum and thought it was just a scratch in the anodizing? I would recommend being patient and following up with another email. Is it possible for you to get a macro-shot of the damage with a strong backlight that can be seen through the crack to demonstrate that it does pass through the entire head? That crack would affect thread engagement and water tightness as well...

My camera - its a Pentax optio P80- doesn't do macro very well (even on manual) shows dust good though. light isn't showing thru anymore I greased the o-rings covered the crack -- maybe if I boil it?

If a light is crack(ed) you must send it back.

I had a similar situation with Manafont. I also had a couple of other items I wanted to order. I offered to submit my order if they were to include the replacement for the defective item I had just received.
They agreed and I am happy with the outcome. I know this goes against the grain of some of the preferred methods, but sometimes you got to give and take a little.
I also must add that I think that your disapointment in the cracked host is perfectly reasonable.

I've been e-mailing back and forth with M/F since 2/16 it's nice to have BLF support --- squeaky wheel and all.

Good luck! I don't purchase from Manafont any more.

I hope their CS has improved substantially!

What happened to Manafont CS and Jim? A year ago no one could touch them for the most part...seems after the BLF custom flashlight debacle it went downhill, and Jim more or less disappeared. Just my observation, probably wrong :)

It's too bad if they have because that UltraFire 3-mode XM-L drop-in (sku 5720) is probably the best anywhere.

I just ordered 2 of those a week ago at the same time I ordered my defective solarforce hosts.

They both shipped same day.

I got the solarforce hosts in the mail yesterday, so im hoping the manafont order will get here sometime within the next week.

The order that had the broken TF-1200 body also had 2 TF-3000 18650 flame batterys and a 3 mode XML drop-in --- good as usual, It's my 2nd (3rd?) M/F 3-mode and still the best. And Ella is
