What blade did you EDC today?

Thank you Man Without Shadow. Amazon is where I got it. They were $10 off one day when I stumbled upon it. That was the only reason I picked it up. It’s super small and easy to carry in the pocket. The pocket clip on it is a monstrous little thing. Clamps down on your pocket something fierce and doesn’t want to let go. Hard to unclip from your pocket. Rides really nice in the pocket. No locking system at all on it. Just a couple of indents for a ss ball to rest in. So user beware of that.

Ganzo FH21 flipper:

Received this morning my Sanrenmu 9165 with aluminum handle. Great large blade and very light (85 grammes). The optional locking mechanism is original and you can lock it closed.
My only complain is the thumb-stud that is hard to use and not comfortable, two hands opening is far better. I will remove it.

I asked them for a lightweight gentleman large non-locking knife and its good that they are listening to the customers.

Nice! :+1:
How do you like the alu handle? Is it grippy enough?

The holes in the handle really help with the grip and the shape of the handle is comfortable. Its surprising good for aluminum, I’m only afraid of getting scratches on it.
The one hand opening is also getting easier with break in and learning to place the thumb on a special angle.

I might order the plain Jane G10 version and drill the holes using my CF version as template for maximum grip.

would have been perfect with a liner lock or back lock…

But this way it’s unique and perfectly legal in nanny states.
Except the UK, fork the UK.

I like the look of that one. Spyderco’s designs are a bit strange but they seem to make it work. It’s a big knife, isn’t it?

Yes, it’s a big fellow with 4.14” (105 mm) blade and 9.17” (233 mm) overal length.

It’s not a Spyderco design. It’s designed by Nati of Black Snow Customs.

Let me rephrase. The designs Spyderco decides to go with are a bit strange.

Lighweight

What knife is the blue one?

Just got this

benchmade bugout

I agree. The looks of some of their lights leave me scratching my head sometimes. I end up not buying them because of that. I know I shouldn’t let looks alone sway my decision but, that is easier said than done sometimes. On the other end of that, I have bought knives that I thought looked awesome but upon having them in hand, got put in a drawer and forgotten about. CRKT Pilar is one knife that comes to mind. I loved the looks and ordered one on that alone. It doesn’t fit in my hand very well at all and I end up dropping it before I get it open most of the time. So now it resides in a drawer next to another dozen that have the same problem.

Maybe I should start buying knives I think are ugly and giving them a fair shake.

I’ve got a few folders over the yrs.
Just remember. Folders ARE folders.
IE lock letting go and fingers off. potentially.

I have a few Ganzo’s and Puma’s.

ALWAYS do all heavy work with a fixed blade.
Me. Puma, Martiini and power saw blades too.

77yrs. still got all my fingers but left hand first coupla pinkies have a few
slice marks (scars) from Deckie days on North Sea Trawlers in ’50’s.
gutting out the Cod for boxing/icing.

No matter how “good”, expensive. A folder is. It’s still a very sharp blade. sitting
Hinged. on the end of a plastic thing,or coupla narrow sheets of ally, steel.
Looking at that post of the Spyder/Benchmade snapped in half handle,
should stir the embers. Food and trimming/shaving things only.

I’ve got a 200gram Browning 3 1\4 in blade. Solid as. still use fixed for serious work.
I’d hate to see any of you kids damaging yourselves.
AUS8/440C steel more than fine enuff for them.

PS Above.
Thank you for the “Pilar” notes above. I have it in this weeks purchases.
Not any more. I have a mid sized paw.

“ALWAYS do all heavy work with a fixed blade”

I agree, though the huge ass folder i carry, it actually have a secondary “steel plug” to put clear cross it to secure the big heavy blade.
And i like that as i don’t have much trust in the liner lock it have.
BUT that “plug” are in the glove box of my car as i have no plans for heavy use and really the knife need a sharpening bad as it never was that sharp from the factory.
I must say the large size don’t bother me at all, which i feared a little when i got it, cuz compared to the Ganzo auto i used to carry its gigantic.
