Can anyone recommend suitable 26650 cells for this (will be my first 26650-powered flashlight)? The Shockli 26650 IMR 5500mAh seem to be highly rated, but their product page at Mountain Electronics lists the diamer as 26.7mm and states ‘These are a larger diameter than most 26650 cells! PLEASE CHECK MAXIMUM BATTERY DIAMETER OF YOUR DEVICE BEFORE PURCHASING!’ Don’t want to get them and then find they won’t fit…
@freeme are you able to confirm the internal diameter of the FT03?
I think you need to lower the output or increase resistance for SST20. For multi led lughts no problem because the battery sag helps them survive. But in a single led setup I killed 4-5 SST20 leds with fet driver.
Freeme if I’m in for 3 lights can I use thecoupon I get 3 times for 3 separate orders? That way every single light will be under vat price level. But 3 lights will go under customs and need to pay vat.
Just poking around….the product is showing on Banggood…but it’s status as far as location/warehouse is “DESIGN”. So…appears to still be in initial stages…but getting close. Guessing codes won’t be available until it shows “CN” warehouse…or vice versa.
If you check the datasheet they come in 4500k-10,000k. The limiting factor to us hobboests is what a retailer sells and only CW have been for sale up till now. Astrolux could have ordered a full reel at which point they could spec a tint bin of their choice.
Question for the under-educated;
How is Astrolux getting 2400 lumen from a SST40 emitter? How many amps/watts to the LED?
Has anyone seen CD numbers? Tested one of these?
1. They aren’t getting anywhere near 2400 lumens. Even when heavily overdriven, 2400 lumens is the best case scenario at turn on with a full very high drain cell, and without counting optical loss, and temperature increase of the LED.
2. Candela/throw numbers seems a bit high for a domed SST-40 light, even massively overdriven.
