XHP70.2 Convoy L6 4,300 Lumen

Thanks for the review! How soon can we expect X70 review?

I just ordered a L2 with XPL HI. What current do you consider max for this and is 0 ohm in parallel also ok? A wire in parallel?

Does anyone have a lumen chart? What does it settle down to after turbo and when?

Probly this week, but if not next week. I’m already working on it.

I don’t have an L2 so I can’t say for sure.

There is no turbo timer on the L6

L2 uses another driver(ld-25)
You can direct drive a xpl hi.

So basically shorting the resistor is ok?

Not necessarily. You can direct drive an XPL hi on one 26650, but two would certainly kill it.

Thanks for pointing that out. So not a good idea. What would be a good amperage to shoot for that leaves the 2 cell option open but gives the L2 some oomph. Also, are low and med. affected with this mod?

I like to run XPLHI at around 5 amps myself. You can go a bit higher, but it gets hard to sustain the higher output.

In TAs chart you can see he is getting some gains at 6 amps but basically nothing after that, and this is a control test, so if you drive the LED at 6 amps for 10 minutes you might actually have lower output than if you were at 5.5A for 10 minutes because of the heat.

I got my L6 with OP two days ago, just was ok, it did I think 3200L’s. I swapped out the OP for an SMO, ditched the 70 for 70.2. 65k, bypassed both spings with 20awg wires, change the power wires for 20awg, and just straight bypassed them BA sense r’s with braided wire. 6910 Lumens.
No stepdown, works very well and runs cooler on the handle than my Wowtac A4, MF04S modded, and blfgt70 after 2 mins on highest.

BTW, check your bargain L6, mine came from banggoods fp’d up at the head. 1. screw hole that holds down mcpcb, one was larger than the other and had no threading in it. It served no purpose. 2. Top of threads on the head was damaged, looked as though it fell at the factory on dull sword then banged on the assembly table to ovalize it for good measures to maybe prevent it from sealing out moisture just before they screwed on the lid.

What different of boost current between stack R100 resistor and wire bypass ?

Well I guess you mean stack like in iHop 3 pan cakes, lol.
Stack of 3 r100 would be .0033ohms or just .003ohms vs. 0 ohms, stock was .082x2= .04, correct me if I am wrong.
I was also pulling 11amps at the tail cap from two efest high drain and around 4.5 amps stock at the tail cap.

XHP70.2 should be fine but is the driver work properly at 11A?

this should have been driven to more then 4300 only, why only so little? i think the host can easy handle 5000+ and more no ? looking mats video its only about a 500 difference in lumens vs the old xhp70 emitter.

I put the 0 ohm resistor, installed a 70.2 (4000K) in my older L6 and kept the OP reflector in it, amazing performance. Not sure if I am going to de-dome it because I like the beam profile as is. I may do all the mods to a different one.

I just got myself the L6 XHP70.2 and fitted two brand new Keeppower 5200mAh batteries. For some reason, the flashlight doesn’t light up at all.

Do you guys know if it could be the batteries, not having a high enough max continuous discharge? These batteries do work on the L2, so batteries are definitely ok.

What batteries do you use?

If these batteries should work, then there is a problem with the flashlight.

Please help…!

Thanks :+1:

Are they flat tops? If so, could not be making contact . Assume you used singles in the L2?

No, they are button tops. I’ve tested them both on the L2, 2 cell config, and they work.

Have the Keeppower 5200mAh batteries enough power to work on the new L6?

What batteries do you use?

Thanks

Oh boy, I got tons of 26650's, and let me see - I got one modded XHP70 with a BLF OSHPark board, and one pretty much fully stock XHP70, maybe XHP70.2. I typically use the blue covered 5000K LK's, but I stay away from KeepPower cells in general - rewrapped who knows, and their history of denials and not telling what they use has been frustrating.

Are they protected? If so, do you know the max amp ratings? Might be maxing out the protection circuit. I also generally stay away from protected - only use them for testing purposes. For example, I bought a set of 4 GA protected 18650's at the time for testing on the Q*, since many BLFers were asking bout protected cells.

The better protected cells nowadays have high amp ratings, like 10A to 12A, or thereabouts but dunno the ratings of KP's - hhm, should google up these 5200's....

Update: Ahhh, here they are unprotected: https://www.illumn.com/26650-keeppower-5200mah-imr26650-high-discharge-flat-top.html?gclid=Cj0KCQjwjMfoBRDDARIsAMUjNZoX5ZepAVoZUbwt2sv2bxZ84JAdjI-U3DrVXAdOldwfpPDv5skcPdMaAjByEALw_wcB

Here they are protected, and 9.5 amp rating: https://usa.banggood.com/Keeppower-ICR26650-5200mAh-3_7v-Protected-Rechargeable-Li-ion-Battery-p-961178.html?gmcCountry=US&currency=USD&createTmp=1&utm_source=googleshopping&utm_medium=cpc_bgcs&utm_content=garman&utm_campaign=pla-usg-rm-all-purchase-pc&gclid=Cj0KCQjwjMfoBRDDARIsAMUjNZqZzKULLiP9Blxmkm7dq5QxG_e_s9Pbb7G9h3kY_j4EXGGyun6mhZAaApGrEALw_wcB&cur_warehouse=CN

So all depends... Hhmm. On a stock L6, 9.5 amps? Hhmm, dunno, might be close, might trip - it's rated at 4300 lumens, so dunno off hand -- any reviews post the amps drawn?

Does the light work at low settings?

Hi Tom E, thanks for your reply.

My KP’s are 5200mAh button tops protected cells rated at 9.5A max discharge.

These cells work on other flashlights. All I need to know is if these cells would work on the new XHP70.2 L2. If they do, then the flashlight I got is faulty.

Does anybody know if they should work at 9.5A max discharge?

Thanks.
