Leatherman Tread Mods

Love em or hate em? I have the stainless steel version, with some mods 8^)

I wear this nearly every day, mostly just as a piece of man bling but it does have a couple of handy features to it especially now it has added Torx bits #10, #8, #6 plus the 2mm & 1.5mm hex bits for adjusting scopes, knife pivots on the go etc.

On this one I have reversed the joint piece orientation, added a leather patch to the clasp underside for a more comfort fit, installed magnets to the clasp for extra closure security and made use of the hex shape holes by installing magnets and moulding JB Weld to store the flat bits.

There's a diamond file square, ferrocerium rod piece and four white tritium vials installed too.

.

I have also made a Flashlight Bit.

.

This operates like a slide switch. It’s held in by friction.

There is a small check out of the back corner of the unit and a corresponding piece of copper press fitted into the leatherman segment so you push the LED unit back into the body until it makes contact and push it from the back to turn it off.

The two SR364’s are in series with kapton tape lining the body segment.

This usually accompanies my UK carry modified Skeletool CX.

Feel free to share your Leatherman mods here too :THUMBS-UP:

the edge of the skeleton looks sharp. is it factory edge or did you change the angle

It was the very first edge I sharpened, without practising first so it’s down to about 10° each side, scary sharp but not to be used on rough jobs. The 154CM steel seems to hold well with that angle though.

Wow! That is some man bling. If I crossed paths with someone wearing that I would definitely turn around and run the other way. Much too cool for me.

For other mods of all types of LM, Gerbers, SOG and Swiss Army Knives, take a look at multitool.org if you are not already familiar with it. There’s a member there yclept Evil510 who does your same sort of creative and beautiful mods on a variety of tools.

You’d probably run the other way if you saw me coming while not wearing it too. Just kidding

Cool, I’ll check that out.

My one and only Leatherman. A friend of mine gave it to me 4 or 5 years ago.

Nice, an original with the serrated blade. Do you use or carry it much?

Yes. It’s in my change pocket right now. To be honest, it gets very light use. I try to keep it in mint condition

That is impressive! I wish someone sold that flashlight as i’d Happily pay!
