Thanks Andrey, I will have a look into that, too. :-) Currently, I'm looking for a reliable source to buy XP-E2 photo red (650-670nm) and XP-E2 far red (720-740nm) but I'm unsuccessful to find a seller.
Anyway, all your LEDs have arrived in perfect condition and work like a charm. I'm very satisfied both with the 70CRI (for maximum performance) and the 90CRI (for best colour rendition). It seems the quality of 90CRI light will be significantly influenced wether you use an optic or a reflector and - to my surprise - if you use an AR coated lens or one without coating. The best color rendition seems to be gained by using a mule design (e.g. Solarforce P60 quad LED board) without AR coated lens.
Thanks for the kind offer BlueSwordM! Actually, I was interested into a bunch of LH351D 3000K 90CRI for comparison to 4000K and 5000K 90CRI or for a triple independent light (KD dropin) with all three tints in one light. But I'm not sure if it's worth the high shipping cost from Canada to Germany...just thinking. Maybe it's worth taking a closer look to Arrow, Mouser, Digikey and so on. Mouser has a lot of LEDs but they charge "pharmacy prices" for shipping over here. It's hard to find a source where you can rely on purchasing the right flux bin / tint bin, though.
Shipping will not be expensive via the method I’ve used before for shipping, and I haven’t had any problems with them with my special kind of envelopes.
Shouldn’t cost more than 5$US to ship via that method.
Will have to order at least 60-65 emitters to get free shipping too however.
Paypal sent! I hope my slow response was no trouble.
I’m looking forward to putting one of these in an S2+ to compare to another S2+ that has a 219C in it. Also, I will probably try slicing one like Djozz has discussed to see if I like that better.
I checked all known sources for XP-E2 photo red and far red but I was unsuccessful with E-Neon, Mouser, Digikey and Arrow. The one and only source I could find was cutter.au which is an Australian supplier and I have no idea how reliable it is and how much shipping would be just for some LEDs. The Samsung LH351H (deep red) is very much like XP-E2 red, i.e. 1A maximum current, probably peak at around 1.75A max.. Anyway, thanks for you help.
Has anyone tested the LH351C yet in comparison to 351B and 351D?
Yes, that one I found, too but I'm wondering why Cree states order codes for the XP-E2 far red and photo red but these are nowhere to get.
@ Barkuti
Alright, gracias! The 351D 4000K 70CRI with a top flux binning and same great characteristics as 351D 5000K 70CRI W6 would be a dream to come true. :-D I'm sure that one would also sell great even without HighCRI but instead with tremendous high current capabilities. Just thinking of a D4S with 2x 4000K 70CRI and 2x 5000K 70CRI for a great neutralwhite 4500K beam and 5000+ lumens.
On a side note:
I really really like BLF but working with quotes in the text editor is a real nightmare. No matter what I try when quoting something, it all ends up as an entire quote with my reply....aaaaarrrrghhh.
There is also Deep Red (~660nm) and Far Red (~730nm) from Luminus (they can be driven to 1.5A as the doc says, maybe a bit above that), but that needs a different soldering mask, as the contacts are not in a 3.25mm sided square area as the SST-20W has them, but 2.7mm, so I don't know, where one could get a board, which fits that.
Thanks for the information Jos! :THUMBS-UP: @AEDe: I hope you don't mind my intervention into your Samsung LED thread as this is about a totally different LED, not offered by you or e-neon. I don't mean to derail this groupbuy thread even though I admit I already did....sorry!   Just one quick supplemental...
MRsDNF, a very helpful and friendly BLF member from Australia helped me to figure out what Cutter has on stock. In the first place there were some mistakes on Cutter's website but thanks to MRsDNF and Mark (Cutter) it has all been sorted. They seem to have the latest revisions of XP-E2 photo red (now called "deep red") with 660nm wavelength and XP-E2 far red with 730nm wavelength. I.a.w. the bin codes these seem to be top rank bins.
I'd like to share some beamshots / whitewall-shots of modified Sofirn C8F lights. These were equipped with Samsung LH351D / LH351B emitters bought from Andrey ("AEDe"). Once again, Большое спасибо for these wonderful LEDs, Andrey! All pictures were shot on iPhone 6S with manual settings. If you have any suggestions how to improve the beam quality comparison between those beamshots, I'd be glad to hear about it. My photography skills are very limited so far.
