Back to the topic of flat-earthers.
The simplest demonstration that I can’t see how they can refute is a long distance phone call.
If it’s the middle of the day where you are, and you can be having a conversation with someone you trust who tells you it is the middle of the night, how can they explain that with a flat earth?

Fact based evidence would convince normal folks that the earth is indeed not flat. What you are dealing with here is illogically thinking people. Or they just like attention. Either way, they seem to figure out how to breed. That is what scares me. It’s been proven that the harder you try to convince someone of the truth and change their mind, the more devout in their beliefs they become. Strange but true.

Totally agree with you, but this true for most religions.

In my opinion there is no difference between believing that the world is flat and believing that some guy created the world in 6 days.

My big wonder has been: Did they ever tried to sail to the antarctica? I believe there must be at least a rich flat-earther, or they can just collect needed funds to go there. It’s much more doable than making their own space rocket and fly to outer space.

Anybody these days can get a drone, fly it straight up and observe the curvature of the earth.
What I can’t wrap my mind around is how the moon is rotating on it’s axis in sync with the earth so the the same side is always visible. Have a few drinks or something else and try that mind experiment.

The Earth raised tidal bulges on the moon. As the moon rotated through these bulges, internal friction slowed the moon’s rotation until it achieved tidal coupling.

I want one of the flat earth people to take a trip the edge of earth and take a picture or post video proof. Surely they have, this would prove their point. Maybe an expedition is in order. Start traveling West or East and see if you can get back to their starting point. If they never return then they fell into space.
The other item that would need proven or disproven is mental illness. This kind of thought process should be a flag to authorities. Some of these folks could potentially be a danger to society.

I’ve heard this argument before. If the sun was a bulb spinning over a flat surface, an ultra-high powered telescope should be able to see it at night. If I place The Hubble Telescope on the top of Mt. Everest, I would have to be able to see the sun as it makes its rotation around the Earth, right?

But we all know this is not true. You can’t see the sun at night because the Earth obstructs your view.

• Ask to see the sun at night with a high powered telescope.

• Ask them to explain stars. If our star fades into oblivion within a matter of minutes, how can we see stars that are trillions of miles away?

You can’t live without a belief system, there must be a religion to link people. And yes atheist is also a religion ironically, but a materialist one.

Atheism is a religion like baldness is a hair colour, not collecting stamps is a hobby, and abstinence is a sex position.
Atheism has no dogma, no agenda, no teachings. There are prominent thinkers and leaders who are atheists, but no atheist leaders because it is not a movement.
Nothing represents atheism because atheism is not a thing that can be represented, it is an absence of theism.
The ONLY thing all atheists have in common is that they are not convinced any theism is valid.

Why does believing in a flat earth make someone crazy, but believing in a creation where the earth (and everything) is only 6000 years old just make someone religious?

Or, anyone that doesn’t accept the scientific accuracy of evolution is just as whacky as someone that doesn’t believe in gravity. If anything, evolution has held up better than gravity over the past 100 years.

Frankly, flat-earthers don’t bother me any more than some of the crazier religious beliefs out there. I’m not against religion; believe what you want to believe. But if someone accepts that religious beliefs are okay, they should also leave the flat-earther’s alone too.
