If the world is going to end in 12 years, it’s far too late for us to do anything about it. Instead, let’s party like it’s 1999! You know… preparing for all the Y-2K bugs that were going to destroy civilization.
Just barely old enough, I remember some sort of faux documentary with a washed up actor trying to scare the crud out of the audience. If you go back a few more years there was Soylent Green where they were predicting global warming & dead oceans. It seems to cycle from one to the other every so often.
Don’t forget what Soylent Green was made out of! Yummy stuff for sure. I was in college and saw it when it first came out. Kind of fit in with the mood of the country at that time.
People thought the earth was flat thousands of years ago. Ok fine. Since then in the recent past people learned how to fly in space and with out doubt noticed yes indeed the earth is mostly round. You can convince people to eat tide pods. Drive a car blindfolded. Consume a tablespoon of cinnamon and almost die and do other countless stupid things. Science in and of itself is not bad. Without it we would not be playing with electrons and making them do our bidding.
It’s a religious issue that is pointless to argue abut here, let alone to use the forum thread as an opportunity to bring up additional topics that people fervently believe should be more widely promoted and thus find attractive to argue for in public.
Science never convinces people who don’t do the arithmetic, as Eratosthenes no doubt discovered. So, well, bless your heart.
I am disappointed people argue about pointless topics. I am disappointed people do stupid things. I was not trying to make things worse. Electrons can make photons fly. Is that not the point of BLF? Not that the earth is flat or round.
It’s OK hank. We won’t fall of the sides of the earth. The sky’s not falling (yet at least )
The math doesn’t scare me, it’s the panic of those like our youngest congress women. :person_facepalming:
This to shall pass
