In my experience most of the 1 and some 2 star ratings are either don’t know how to use, or unrealistic expectations. There are a few outright failures, and if there are too many of those I move on.
Check out the Sofirn C01 in their Aliexpress store. AAA, Yugi high CRI, 60° beam angle for nice even beam, choice of 3400K/5200K emitters. And a sub $10 price.
That’s correct.
The Vapecell 14500 is one of the best in its category.
It’s highly likely that you will even get a better turn-on lumen performance
That’s something I forgot to mention.
Indeed there is no LVP. To my knowledge, it quite a common practice on flashlights that use a boost/fet driver and accept both NiMH and LiION cells.
Mine tail stands just fine. I even tried a little nudge perpendicular to the open portion of the ring and it settled right back to upright.
And I don’t believe the Tool AAA ever claimed to be able to tail stand just for that reason. [You can always just stand it up in a shot glass. Not totally vertical but still ceiling bounces just fine.]
Does anyone know where I can find an electronic version of the user manual. I like to keep electronic versions when I can because my paper manuals all seem to disappear. I usually put them back in whatever container the light came in then store that somewhere, and promptly forget where that was.
If you really want a Tool AAA to tail stand, just get the magnetic tail cap. You loose the push-button option so it becomes a twisty only, but the magnetic tail cap is flat, and allows the Tool AAA to stand just fine.
Someone said it before but it needs repeating,
This AA Tool 2.0 has the best high def high CRI cool white emitter that I have ever seen.
The detail is just incredible in all the modes. This would be a handy detective/Cop investigative detail operation flashlight, nothing can hide.
Blown away, plus they got rid of the PWM and hid the strobe.
Add on the reversible clip, Alkaline, Ni-MH and 14500 capabilities and this thing is Pure EDC heaven for me at least.
Get the Vipon code and steal one for $9 while you can!
Later
I think I was the one that mentioned this, but in another review. The tint on this Tool’s XP-L is nothing short of a treat, easily the nicest cool white I have ever seen. You can tell for sure its CCT is high, but it doesn’t wash out reds and yellows like we’ve come to expect; it just looks nice.
Holy crap, you’re not kidding, that is a steal I’d nab another one if I wasn’t so short on dosh this month.
