【convoy】H4 and B35AM options are updated

Marc E…. I ordered mine 18 February. I got a notice that it “Shipped” today. Hopefully it really did….

Congratulations Simon on the first Convoy headlamp

I will probably have a few questions, if they are not already asked by other members

EDIT:

I already have them (questions, suggestions, requests mixed):

- Currently I don’t know, how the headlamp driver works, only the available modes in the UI. Is the headlamp driver is a buck driver (which converts down from 4.2-3.0V of the battery to the voltage required by the LED, without burning off the excess voltage), so it could be also very good at using low forward voltage LEDs for a prolonged time in low to medium modes? Or that driver works similarly (or identically) to the 7135×N (N: 3,4,6,8) drivers?

- To get the most potential out of this headlamp, access to the LED and optics should be relatively easy (preferably, if a driver would need a replacement in the future, that should be also possible).

- I think, support for TIR lens would be essential for this headlamp, as this can give a great customizability over the form of the light beam - my suggestion would be to support the d=20mm h=12.8mm Yajiamei TIR lens, as they offer a wide range of options.

- A few members already mentioned 18350 tubes. I think, if this headlamp would have 18350 tube as well, it could be a great gift for women - especially, if there will be a few more alternative color for the body (I think, the same red anodization as the S2+ bodies, and the clear anodization variant could be a good starting point).

- I would like to share suggestions about UI for the driver, if you would like to consider them

Great news, the H01 looks great Simon !

.
I agree, this looks very good!! And Simon has already said it will save him a massive number of battery tubes that have to be scrapped in production. This saves a massive amlunt of money too… it’s a nobrainer to remove the knurling. :+1:

  • Someone mentioned earlier that removing the knurling would negatively effect the S2+’s “status” as a great light.
  • They also said the new design was “boring”. :person_facepalming:

Personally, I think both statements are totally wrong. The “status” of the Convoy S2+ is mostly based on function… great function. A ‘cosmetic’ change will in no way hinder that at all. The S2+ will retain it’s “status” as a great light.

As far as the new look being “boring”. That is simply an opinion. As is the fact that I think it looks great.

I think a smooth look is desirable also. Personally, I have no trouble at all holding a smooth object.

In fact, personally; I’m good & onboard with just about anything Simon decides to do about the battery tube exterior. I figure he will make a good choice, as well as a choice that will simplify the manufacturing process so as to cut down on scrapped parts.

……
As far as the headlight/right angle light pictured below…. Very Nice!! :+1:
.

Yeah, as much as I want a nicer UI, I’m super excited for both the H1 and the S11. Both looking super sexy!

I really love the facets on the tailcap of the headlamp. Very nicely done! I said it before and I’ll say it again: I’m really excited about all the new models and designs coming out. Also, listening to suggestions and feedback is really nice to hear. I love my Convoy lights and am certain that I’ll be enjoying some of these new models.

What about a strap for the headlamp? Will one be included or will it be sold as just a right angle light?

Great flood light! It is very necessary for the premises and work hands.

Thanks ,good suggestion, but i have to change it in next batch now ,

71g not including the battery or clip

Although it is PWM, the frequency is very high, I use a shutter time of 1/12000(my phone), and it is not easy to capture the flash.

1.SMO for S11 is in production now.
2.i’m sorry ,i didnt get 5000K,i will try in future
3.yes,i can send you more if you need
4.i change my plan ,i’m ready to install XHP35 in L6 ,i will get a driver sample (output 2A) in three days

there is no indicator ,
I used a translucent button to reserve this function, because later I will launch another H1 version with charging port.

1.just similar to 7135*N
2.sorry ,the lens is not suitable,i will launch another lens version\
3.yes,i plan to produce 18350 tube and red anodization can be made in the future

no lanyard hole,
of cause i can add some if buyers need it

Simon, you’re absolutely incredible - I love how you take on all the feedback from the community. Definitely a very good way to keep a loyal customer base

I might wait for an updated H1 with the new UI, but will be placing another order as soon as the S11 drops

Simon, I just received two C8+ with 219C 4000K from you. Please fix the driver on them. Toykeeper will explain what’s wrong.

They have visible PWM on moonlight and all the other modes use a wrong PWM frequency as well. This also makes the configuration mode advance way too fast and have too fast a strobe.

Also, the tint on those emitters is pretty bad. Worst 219C I have personally seen with a duv of 0.0075 on one and 0.0049 on the other. The focus of the reflector is also very different on my two samples.

Any of this doesn’t matter to me personally since these are just going to be a throwier light for calibration of spheres, but someone who actually uses them might not like what they see.

Well, I think that the next version of H1 whith suggested UI, proper modes, tir-compatible,18350 tube, possibility to change Led and charging port will be just awesome. It will be a new Zl killer:)

Maukka measured the PWM speed on each mode:

  • 2.25 kHz moon
  • 17.9 kHz low
  • 36 kHz all other modes

The 36 kHz speed means the driver was flashed with the wrong fuse values.

The 2.25 kHz moon means the driver has a very old version of the firmware on it, from 2016, calibrated for nanjg 105d drivers which were never actually used. This was fixed two years ago, along with some other issues.

If at all possible, I would strongly recommend updating to a newer type of driver, perhaps one with two power channels and an attiny25v or attiny85v chip. This would improve performance and allow for a nicer UI. If not though, it would be a good idea to at least update the firmware on the existing drivers.

So much thanks ,Ms Tk ,i will send these data to driver manufacturer
