Imalent MS18 with 100,000Lumen and R90TS with 36,000Lumen

really ? never seen a light that big so broken before, it looks like it just snapped, either way it shouldnt be a 2 part head since it weighs some it should be supported better then somehow. a few dents and crack if u drop it is no big deal but looking that picture it looks bad imo…

Thanks for the translation 59. The R90C has nothing to do with this thread, but to answer his question, the head of the R90C has a small allen screw above each lantern, probably for servicing and ease of assembly; you can see in his photo that each screw is hanging down onto the two lanterns (which read R90C). You can’t tell if they were stripped or broken from the presumed long drop, but if the torch still works, they should replace those allen screws.

Imalent seems to be using the same basic head design for both the MS12 and R90C (with the MS12 having more air slots). The MS12 has to be a two piece design in order to get the fan inside.

We should not assume what the situation is concerning that picture. One person might have taken their R90C apart and posted a picture and another person might have seen the picture and freaked out thinking it’s broke. Who knows.

It would be highly unlikely for the threads to strip since they’re an order of magnitude harder than the aluminum they’re threaded to. It just appears snapped because the screws are counterbored into the head.

being stripped from the head is what I said, so that includes the female threads in the head, but likely or not you also can’t assume they were damaged either like Jason said earlier…maybe the guy took it apart to modify it and wanted to complain about it because he just didn’t like how it was made, no that never happens here, he gave no context. He only served to stir up trouble, like help is needed there. This is exactly why most manufacturers just put out their products and don’t really care about this forum, everyone here wants to control their design, description, marketing strategy, prices, and policies. It’s become much worse that feedback and suggestions. Give an inch, take a mile.

To me this looks like it was in the process of being disassembled but it’s hard to tell. Would be nice to see the other side of the light for drop damage. Either way, I would call it misuse. I know they are heavy but in my opinion it would have to take a SERIOUS drop for that to happen. In the meantime I would not assume anything negative until we get more info.

Only responding to your quote bout needing to replace the SHCS…

It’s very easy though to accuse the end consumers… Give the manufacturers an inch they take a mile. Except here in the US if you were a business giving customers 71% of what you promise you’d be done in a year. Here if a manufacturer does that everyone praises them for being innovative and at the cutting edge!

hey guys

just came home

I slept less than 10 hours the last 3 days and will take tonight off and cut/publish the video and pictures tomorrow..

since it matters :

ZozzV6 measured 97700 Lumen compared to his MT09R (112000 compared with a L2 xhp50.2)

throw was calculated 1.1km (measured @20m)

they did it!

O SNAP

Can’t wait to hear more!

same settings

MS18 (97700+ Lumen)

R90TS (30800+ lumen )

Got to give credit where due. That is seriously impressive.

I really don’t know yet if the throw distance on the R90TS is any better than my R90C, though lumens are definitely “doubled” based on realistic figures, so that’s good, but at the same time the R90C has close spill. I really like it because I can see my entire yard and the ridge behind me, but some may not like all that spill. It will be interesting to hear some opinions on the the throw, the spill, and the efficacy of the objects at distance, and photo comparison to an R90C. I know Martin has both

Like I said a month ago about these high power lights, they don’t have CPU style cooling to keep temps down, sustained output will be rubbish. In other words these lights will just be toys.

Two on my wish list. :sunglasses:

And thanks a lot for the info Martin! :+1:

Relax “nokoff” its not that serious its just a toy, like a video game for kids.

Huh? Two different lights. Very different designs and price ranges.

This is ceiling bounce comparisons or what exactly?

Curious what lumens he assumed the MT09R to be. Hakelite over spec the lumens on the MT09R. If this even makes 80k lumens, it would be really amazing since all flashlight manufacturers seem to use a reference that is 20% higher than the Maukka/ANSI standard.

Is Imalent planning to release a NW version.

Yeah right.

MS18 : 98k lumens 350kcd
R90TS: 30k lumens 800kcd
Which one should I get?

My two combined MT03 has over 32k lumens but they can only do about 75kcd. MS18 350kcd is very impressive too.

But I think R90TS will be more sustainable in terms of heat and power consumption.
