Second Generation Silver Plated High Current Beryllium Copper Springs and 95+CRI SST20!

Woah. That is some serious low BBL light being emitted, but then gets destroyed once in the A6.

That’s just the middle of the bare LED. At 45 degrees it’s much closer to BBL.

Here’s my attempt at a lightly frosted TIR (mid power):

CCT = 3041K (Duv 0.0019)

Color Rendering Index (Ra) = 95.1 [ R9 = 77.4 ]

R1 = 95.6 R2 = 95.9 R3 = 95.0 R4 = 96.6 R5 = 95.1 R6 = 95.0 R7 = 96.7
R8 = 91.2 R9 = 77.4 R10 = 89.9 R11 = 97.4 R12 = 85.0 R13 = 95.4 R14 = 96.7

I just sat it on top of the MCPCB and eyeballed the centering so YMMV. It’s some 20mm Carclo single, probably 10194, narrow frosted.

I’m not a huge fan of 3000K tints but i’m hopeful this will work nicely when mixed with a 5000K to bring it slightly closer to the CCT and Duv I prefer.

It is curious how the CRI increased so much in that last test with the frosted TIR. I may have to swap the A6 glass lens and see if that or the TIR is causing such a difference. My test of C8 AR lens did not effect tint in any meaningful way but maybe this one is different.

The way an LED looks in a reflector or optic can be wildly different from what you measure in the centre of the beam from a bare LED. I measured one of those famously awful XP-L2 EasyWhites from the original SC64c as Duv –0.0050, gradually getting greener and greener with increasing angle. Stick the same LED in a floody optic and it’s suddenly Duv 0.0046, and even worse in a reflector.

Pretty much all the domed emitters when measured bare behave this way where the 0° angle may look ok but it gets progressively worse when the angle moves towards the side of the LED. In the reflector (especially with orange peel or better yet, diffused) it just gets averaged pretty much like in an integrating sphere.

I have no idea. Package with previous nickel plated springs was delivered after ~2 weeks.

SST-20 3500K from this GB are awesome. The beam is great. I measured output (ceiling bounce app) and it’s higher than 219b sw40 by 25% @2.8A.

I received my springs in California Tuesday. They look great. Thanks for putting this together.

Are the springs still available? I think I’d like to get a bunch - 10 of each :slight_smile: MF01 will need new springs for a Lexel driver, plus spares for anything else I decide to hotrod.

Yes, The tint of the hotspot of a reflector I found is roughly what you measure at 60 degrees on the bare led. You need to start well below the BBL to keep a reflector hotspot below the BBL.

When my neighbour visited me today in hospital he brought me your springs. Nice ones! And i agree with you. Next time go for 1 more coil on the big one.
Can not wait to solder some new springs in my Q8. And there are some more lights waiting for some shiny coiled metal :smiley:

BlueSwordM maybe I missed something.
When do you plan to send orders?(Springs with 3000|3500 sst20)

Mine arrived today, 7 days to the Netherlands :+1:

@AEDe, it’s on the way :slight_smile:

Still no sign of mine. When were they shipped?

Are they still available; should I PM to order?

@tekwyzrd, I shipped yours, don’t sorry. Seems like Europeans got their packages super fast, even compared to Canadians. It’ll come. Sooner rather than later I hope.

@oweban, how many springs?

Also, guys, the springs+LEDs should ship today at 5:00PM, as I wasn’t able to ship the springs before 5:00 PM yesterday.

Packaging so much stuff is very tiring.

10 of each please! No rush though, I can only imagine how much you’ve got on, plus still waiting to hear back from Lexel to get a driver board. :slight_smile:

So, which people in the US received their springs?

Got them yesterday…… :+1:

Thanks!
