If you have not seen this POLL CONCERNING GLUED LIGHTS , please check it out & vote…

It is an attempt to get one light manufacturer to listen concerning using glue to seal their lights. Maybe other light companies might listen also. . :+1:

‘NO GLUE’ is the goal. Hopefully, this poll will help achieve that goal.

Teacher, from the flip side of the coin I see why they glue… for one thing to lock in the warranty, can’t have a warranty if people are going in mucking about with the innards. And for safety reasons as well, not everyone that mods knows how to mod.

I don’t often sell lights I build because I build hot rods, I spend the time making them do all they can do, within my abilities, and invariably someone gets ahold of my light and wants to see what I did, opens it up and destroys the focus, breaks wires, or just in general mucks up what I spent a couple of hours getting right. I want to glue mine too! (in part to help keep ME from modding them again!)

That is a valid concern DB Custom, I agree. :+1:

It would be great if they could come up with something to indicated the light had been opened without using tons of glue though…

I wonder how Convoy (Simon) handles the warranty thing considering he does not glue his lights??

Being as how Simon is a really nice guy, he probably takes a beating in the warranty department. A VERY high percentage of that not being an actual warranty issue…

And yes, I hear you, but in the big picture they probably only have a single digit percentage of lights they make that actually get opened and tampered with. We are a limited few here on BLF, the world market buys em to use and that’s that. I know quite a few flashaholics that are afraid to open a light, seems to them that even if they just take the bezel off they mess something up (fingerprints on the reflector being a number one concern). So, we are a very small if not quite silent minority…

/\… Yep… :+1: … Not “silent” at all.

Got mine today. Stuck a battery in it and it came on as I screwed up the cap. And stayed on. No modes, no ramping, and no off. Fortunately a quick clean of the head did away with that and now it works perfectly. Smaller and much nicer than I thought it was going to be, and quite powerful.

What do you mean?

He mean it worked normally.

/\ …. .

Me too Jason, confusing how a cleaning of the head would have anything to do with the light being on and have no off, that’s a tail cap problem.
(I just came in from mowing the lawn, could be I have dust in the brain and am missing something)

Add me to the list of confused bout that head cleaning. Ok, maybe this guy below does need a head cleaning

u can see in this video some weird substance on his light head, what was it i mean brand new light and came so dirty with something, ? so i guess TheAuditor had the same problem.

Here is the manual for the GT micro.
As I wrote it I had no numbers for lumens and throw.
So the printed manual from Lumintop can differ on that and the logo, the rest should be the same.

I hope that helps the first buyers

That’s just some of the o-ring grease that got squeezed out on assembly. Then the box and packing kind of smears it around. My light had that too. A paper towel should clean it, although it’s persistent.

I was wondering if TheAuditor wiped the driver and battery tube ends. But that should not cause the light to stay on permanently. That’s usually caused by a short in the driver or reflector. IDK, maybe it just needed a power cycle to start working correctly.

I just cleaned the positive contact and the light started working. There was nothing obvious to the eye but this has been noted in other lights as well.

A dirty positive contact made the light come on and bypass the driver and switch? Now THAT’s WoNkY!

Never heard of it, maybe I need to buy more lights…

Hmm, weird.

Glad it’s working fine now. :+1:

Shipped this morning. Woo hoo.

I have to say, this is a really fun light. Already a few friends asked about it. When I pull it out of my pocket, I get the “Yeah, real nice” and smirk (my wife does that too - drum roll!) Then I put it on turbo bathe something a couple hundred yards out with light and they freak out! Feels real solid too, like it would withstand everyday use. All in all a great value considering the very reasonable pricing…

There still a list? I want on it!
