Iāve got a BT3400 v. 2.2 and its OEM fan has been quiet, but I bought two of the Delta fans off of Ebay just to have as spares, as Wolf has suggested.
I also bought the LiteOn 5.5A 12v power brick and while I donāt use it regularly, it was fairly cheap to get ($12 shipped?) My inner hole on the barrel connector is slightly over sized, so if I jiggle it when the charger is running, itāll disconnect, but I just donāt move the charger once things are charging.
Thanks Wolf. Iāll take a look, but itās more of a minor nit. My 2A wall wart works fine, although my first one from Rdana crapped out on me @ 4x1000mA. charging.
Iām still using my original fan ,it got noisy once and I just gave the housing next to the fan a few flicks & itās never done it again.
I have opened my opus a couple of times & while it was open I took the fan out & took all stickers off it & sprayed it including the windings with spray on 3 in 1 oil.
Hey wolfdog you sent me link in the other thread for the adaptors from alixpress, they fit good & are right angle.
Yes. I use the spray-on can but you can get it in squeeze bottles, etc. To be honest I havenāt notice much difference in light oils and I think thereās a lot of marketing hype regarding them.
These are the ones I got a while back , they were just over Ā£3 but now theyāre only Ā£1
With these I can pick the opus up & move it around with no loss of connection.
Look what I found on AliExpress http://s.aliexpress.com/IFfMVbqa
Apologies ā¦. I got crazy busy at work as soon as I posted and then had friends come to stay over the weekend ā¦. I kept meaning to check it but just havenāt had a chance.
I left it unplugged and have tried again and it seems fine now which is really weird, I got 4 x 18650ās and put them all in at the same time and the fan cut in as it should.
I hadnāt put the battery in the wrong way and did try using magnets on the ends before I posted this thread.
Think I may oil the fan anyway as itās always been noisy, is there any oil I should use ā¦ is 3 in 1 OK or silicon spray any better
Iāll also look at the fan upgrade thatās been mentioned although I just want to make sure the unitās OK before I spend the money on that and find the issue I had was the start of it breaking down and donāt see what else I can do but keep using it for now and see if the error occurs again.
I used Tri-flow oil on mine last year and itās been running quiet since then. I think for the most part that any oil/grease would work effectively for this particular purpose.
Just charged 4 x AAās with it with no problem ā¦ took them out and went to replace with the next 4 and it just said Null on each slot ā¦. definitely not a happy charger it seems
Further Update ā¦. Switched it off, left it for a while, switched on and put the 4 xās AAās back in, all registered a voltage and left them to charge, fan cut in after a short while.
Left it for about 10 mins, went to check and saw the voltage hadnāt changed on any of them, switched through the display and it showed 2 mah had gone into each of the batteries, checked the time and they all said 0.00 ā¦ touched one of the batteries ā¦. another 5 mins and I think itād of been searching for the fire extinguisher and couldnāt hold onto them as I took them out of the charger so probably destroyed 4 brand new batteries as well.
My conclusion of the Opus BT C3100 is itās a DANGEROUS POS ā¦ really hasnāt been a good experience for me at all.
