Waiting for next batch [AMZ US Available Now] $49.99 Sofirn SP36 Anduril Version

Sorry I have to say plan changed. the first 10000 lumen light will not SP36 Pro but Q8 Pro, because SP36’s head is not big enough for bigger leds or more leds.

let’s wait and see.

Oh, the SP36 Anduril version goes as planned.

Q8 Pro 4*XHP50 is also good, we are looking forward to it.

Barry, will you be using 3 Volt XHP50.2 or 6 Volt XHP50.2?

very interested!
around 5000k
maybe slight OP reflector for nice homogeneously beam
SS Bezel like Q8
maybe SS tailcap…(like FF Rot66)

PS; better tailstand, my SP36 stand only on the inner “raised ring”, the outer “ring” is a bit to short, so the tailstand is not optimal

3 Volt XHP50.2 is limited, sofirn won’t see a model to be discontinued too soon

LED for Q8 pro is not confirmed yet, XHP series are more powerful but higher volt, sst40 is good not never tries before by sofirn

The SST-40 will not give enough more output compared to the old Q8 to call it a “pro” version, maybe 6000 lumen if low conductive springs are used.

XHP50.2 3V however will give an instant 10,000 lumen or more. It is a pity that they are limited, maybe ask Cree directly?

Between the emitters of XHP50 and sst40 is the colossal difference in heating. The XHP50 emitter will allow working without overheating in the ~1500-2200 Lm modes for any amount of time, without triggering temperature control. This is a very practical in real use.

with my AMUTORCH X9 3*SST40 with one 26650 cell i get around 6000 lumen, so I think 8000 lumen in a Q8 are possible, maybe a bit more, but its not a big jump from the original, you are right….
Jens
PS: but tint and beam of this SST40 is very nice, the most XHP50 lights I own, have a more or less ugly beam and tint /bluish spot with greenish ring around

If Sofirn offer a Q8 with SST40 abd USB-c Carging port in the price range of the original, I definetely buy another one!!

Crap, I recently ordered a SP36… guess I could ditch that one when it comes in. In!

How about 6* sst40 ?

Will try asking cree for 3V XHP50.2

I’m not sure if it’s a good idea to use 6 instead of 4 emitters in the Q8. First, you need to redesign the reflector for 6 emitters (= causing additional costs). Second, you will lose throw as a 6-LED reflector will certainly have a smaller aperture per LED, resulting in a floodier beam. Even though I like the idea of a 14,000-16,000 lumen Q8 with XHP50.2 I’d rather prefer a Q8 with 4x dedomed SST-40 5.000K with approx. 7,500-8,000 lumen output and a very nice beam profile. As an alternative for people who like more flood and a warmer tint you could also choose the Lumileds Luxeon V 4.000K 70CRI. The advantage for those 4040/5050 emitters is that Neven (www.led4power.com) has appropriate boards available already.

Oh please get rid of the ugly green switch leds .I'm so sic of stupid green buttons I could kill someone .

Don't test me ...we have guns !

Oh yes.

Make it light blue if possible, or even yellow if needed for higher efficiency.

Green LEDs are too efficient, meaning they seem way too bright.

The switch LEDs have 4 modes, and one of those modes is “off”.

Interested.
