Is the S11 running with a boost driver or is it a 3v XHP50.2? How difficult would it be to fit a XHP70.2 if its a boost driver?
The S2+ 21700, when is that released and will that come with the xhp50.2 option?
Thanks for the input Simon! Did you test using stock multimeter leads?
The Mosfet you used on the driver is big it can handle 80amps so if its only doing 8amps it will current limited by a resistor. The design of the driver looks good and you are using bigger surface mount components compared to the BLF boards better for heat.
I bought some of the Sofirn drivers from Aliexpress the clicky switch only drivers. They are okay but they lack overall output i get about 10-12amps max in a triple set up and that Mosfet is only rated for around that output at max (8amps continuous @ 10v/ 38amp pulse) so i am guessing your driver could do a lot more if pushed.
Important question too: is current output adjustable in it? I mean, like in the LD-25 driver where you could adjust it by soldering a wire to the set point at the back and tune the current by tapping the negative/ground.
Seems to be “forward clicky” - so I can do momentary on, but it changes brightness every time, also means that while the light is on, I can’t change modes. Probably best suited for a reverse clicky. I hope I’ve got those around the right way, basically, it needs to be what an S2+ is.
Driver is simple 4 modes plus hidden strobe. Could really benefit from Biscotti.
Tint shift - well, here’s a shot against my white roof with the light tail-standing on the floor (not calibrated, taken from phone - I really should get out an SLR):
Overall, it’s fun so far, but…. really needs reverse clicky and Biscotti or similar. (And a way to pump more amps in maybe )
