Surefire is very worried that you dislike their illumination devices, I’m sure.
Find a cheap floody light, in red anodizing if possible and buy several of them.
S2+ in red.
Again, can swap for a TIR if you want floodier.
mmalive: elbakan1: mmalive: elbakan1: mmalive: elbakan1: mmalive: elbakan1: mmalive:All lights fail in ANY circumstance at ANYTIME. Break down in choice selection is the Engineering Design, build material components, quality control, pricing, etc……
I have done some high impact, and other extreme tests on some of my reviews. I will give insights here.
Sofirn : GREAT
Maglite : WORTHLESS
Bushnell Pro : TOTAL JOKE
Wuben : GREAT
Klarus : GREAT
Thrunite : Decent
Olight : Decent
Fenix : Decent
Powertac : GREAT
SureFire : TOTAL JOKE ( friend gave me the Defender version) Cracked body one it hit hard concrete floor
Plus quite a others. Too long to list.
But to give you basic insight. Just because higher price point DOES NOT MEAN DURABILITY or BETTER QUALITY.
You did what to a Surefire?.
What version of the Defender.
I have eight versions of the Great Defender.
And maybe I don’t have ’em all.
None of ’em will ever hit concrete. They levitate.
They gave you a Chinese fake junk garbage.Similar to the one pictured. With Surefire prices they charge : Not standing up to my tests at at all. Total JOKE. I would buy Surefire for collecting only. Not field use.
Other brand stood up to better abusive/impact test conditions than Surefire. And at a FRACTION of the cost.
The United States Armed Forces are in dire need of your professional advice.
Correct. My Dual Engineering Degrees would help them for sure.
Bachelor Of Science in Structural/Interface Design
Bachelor Of Science in Electrical Engineering
I’m sure your scientific tests will help the country.
And your degrees will impress the Pentagon.
Uncle Sam will stop buying Surefires immediately.
Just don’t go with “the one pictured” thing.
You can end up in jail.
For wasting their time like you waste yours.Do not reply with your NONSENSE. Unless you are QUALIFIED WITH DEGREES do not make ANY TYPE of comments pertaining to Engineering, Design, Build Quality, etc… You DO NOT ANY platform to make those type of comments.
Surefire is A JOKE. Especially the prices they charge. I had a Surefire FAIL while other brands stood up to SAME test guy.
Back to subject at hand. Another poster mentioned complainers more than satisfied users of certain brands. I layout and specify that Surefire and Elezetta FAILS like any other light in circumstances. Along comes a elbakan1 trying to play hero in thread really WASTING thread space
It must be frustrating to have not one, but two minor degrees and not finding a job.
At least, smashing flashlights.DO NOT even go there guy. Currently working as Structural/Interface Design Engineering AND Electrical Engineering Consultant in Industry.
That is WAY MORE than said for your background guy.
Ooh, BTW, I can CARE LESS about Surefire. I have many other lights : Fenix, Powertac, Olight, Nitecore, MFTactial, Astrolux, Convoy, Wuben, Sofirn, and list GOES ON AND ON.
Surefire is WAY BEHIND on my lists FOR SURE. You can TAKE THAT to the bank.
Surefire is very worried that you dislike their illumination devices, I’m sure.
Surefire better be. I spend $1000’s on flashlights. From all companies listed above. Surefire is a JOKE claiming durability. SF FAILED on BASIC impact resistance test. While others PASSED with FLYING COLORS!!! Ha Ha.

S2+ in red.

You’re killing me with this TIR thing. :confounded:
1…WHERE can I buy TIR lenses?
2…Other then the built in anodizing, is the S2+ any better then the VG10s? I can buy that for about 11 US bucks.
Right from Simon/Convoy when you’re ordering the red S2+ with the 4C emitter.
Get the 60° one for a nice flood without diluting the beam too much.
mmalive, please drop the subject and do not post in this thread.

I’m having shopping anxiety. I went through the site and I can’t find an S2+ with a TIR lens.
Do I have to send an email to get that option?

Maybe he’d even install one if you want, but ordinarily you’d order it as a separate item. Or just ask him.

Put the light you want in your cart and send him a message with any special requests. I believe he sells TIR optics on his AliExpress store too (I was dumb and forgot to look for/order any when I bought my last S2+) and they are VERY simple to swap out.
Yo guys…you are making a mess of this thread.
Take it to PM……or better yet, LET IT GO.

Ok.
I don’t want to fool around with any electronics/led in fear of creating a dangerous issue. The lens is a none issue in terms of danger.
Surefire sucks. There i said it

Unless you do something really, really dumb you aren’t going to cause any issues by reflowing an LED or swapping in a new MCPCB. The worst I’ve ever done is fry a driver by shorting a light by having the reflector touch and short the contacts on the board.
:person_facepalming:
The S2+ will be used as it is right out of the tin, EXCEPT you just unscrew the pill, pop out the reflector, pop in the TIR lens, and screw the reflector back in. No soldering, no electronical brain transplant, nothing.
It’s so easy a monkey can do it. So who’s better, you or a monkey?

Hey, some of my best times were with Sister Tiffani and Sister Bambi…
