Sofirn SP70 Alone $50, PM for AMZ US CODE(LIMITED)

Quick question, just so I understand this correctly. If I order an SP70 and put my BLF user name in the comments I will get the SP70 BLF version? Or just the muggle version?

As said above, there is no BLF version yet, even what the specifications are has to be finally established,

The $50 price is just great. Time to procastrinate on whether I can afford it or not….

I’ll make myself afford it  But will wait for the BLF edition. MORE AMPS

Sofirn, what about SP70 Pro ?

Either way this is still a BLF edition for us because our input made it. At the very best another BLF edition will add a SMO reflector and a retaining ring if they want to pursue that. Nothing else will change maybe in the future we will see a multi emitter XHP50/70 light from Sofirn using this design.

Sofirn can you make some SP70 that are not glued? So we can access the LED and driver easier?

Amps should be the same.

That might come later if the SP70 sells well.

There’s nothing making the LED hard to get to.

Yep, i am eager for the final BLF version as well

It’s about time, i can still remember the discussion about the design last summer when i was on holiday (and my wife was complaining about the fact that i was more busy with BLF on my phone then our holiday)
it feels like ages

I signed up for the original K70 w/SMO. I saw what difference it made on the L6, well published by VOB's vid on the L6 mod. Maybe this OP is milder, which is what's being said.

SMO, diced/sliced XHP70.2 - that's the direction I'd go. The SMO we need from Sofirn, but the dicing/slicing we need to do.

This OP style is far less OP than the stock S70 or L6 reflector and is only marginally worse than the SMO reflector.

Correct, the difference is only 31 meters or a loss of 3.9%. A good compromise and no one will complain about the beam quality.

SMO is 160kcd 800 meters
Light OP is 148kcd 769 meters
I think the heavier OP was 127kcd 712 meters.

These are Sofirn’s numbers using their 4000mah 21700 batteries. They have a machine that tests lights which may or may not be as accurate as what I use, which is a LX1330B lux meter at 10 meters.

Or 7.5% loss in candela for the light OP, ok, fair enough. The difference is small enough that they probably won't offer them, but if they have them and are look'n to get rid of them, well, I just might take one...

It's easier for me to think in terms of candela since we know candela and lumens scale equally.

I've been known to order a UCL/p lens for $10 to get a 5% bump in lumens and candela, just say'n.

Congrats to Sofirn for making this light a reality, and thanks for working with us!

Maybe the warmer tint could be part of the BLF edition, at least as an option?

How much are you guys seeing for standard Aliexpress shipping costs to countries that are not Germany or USA?

+1 :+1:

I’m glad to see that ePacket (registered shipping) will be at no charge for orders from Germany. :+1:

Wait a sec…what? Standard shipping is more expensive than ePacket? :open_mouth:

Same for US - $5.26.

Interesting that my order for the SP70 and a holster has shipped with a tracking # provided, at least this is what Cissy from Sofirn says on the Ali message...

I'll stay with the $55 price ($61 - $6).

I think the SMO reflector will work a treat if you slice the dome.

Sofirn should have tried to slice the dome to see how it works but oh well.

I can understand why they went with the slightly OP reflector because not every one will slice the LED. Plus having them slice the LED is not an option.

I have this hunk of junk light i built a new pill for and i put a XHP50.2 in it and modded a driver so it does around 10amps. The reflector is in between a C8 and L2 gets more throw than my L6/S70 from a smaller reflector. The light is like half the overall size of the L6/S70.

I think the beam pattern is good i don’t see any artifacts in the beam profile after slicing.

I think it's great for a manufacturer to get input and follow as much of it as they can like this, even if it's not all the way into true BLF light territory. This is fantastic.

Cool. Any estimate on when it will be available on Amazon US? How will the BLF discount work there? Also, is the discount limited to one per customer? At that price, I might want to gift some

Thank you for your efforts working with us! We are strange people, flashlight enthusiasts of BLF, and I understand our desires aren't always quite in line with what mass-production normal consumers want.

Also, I'm not too concerned with the driver's parasitic drain. For the same reason I wanted the rear lockout switch on my L6, I don't mind letting it sit for a while, and it can be a nice house light that's ready-to-go.
