(prototype) the GT Mini

Will there ever be other LED options for the GT mini? Or perhaps just the host for sale?
I would love 1 x GTmini with XPL2, and other with Flat White

Received mine today. Switch is perfectly oriented and appears to be working flawlessly.

The bezel was very tight but came off after deploying the guns  and absolutely no glue to be seen on the threads :+1: (can’t remember if this was the case for everyone)

Overall very impressed with the build quality.

Downsides so far are the led is warmer and yellower than I was expecting (yellower than all my XPL 5A and 5D leds) and also I received a plain black lanyard… what happened to the purple ones?!

nice it arrived, lol be glad u got a black lanyard, i think the purple one i got with gt mini is hideos… and it already quickly destroyed a little the outer wire…. black looks more elegant .

I spoke too soon, my switch is also dodgy :person_facepalming:

oh no…. not another one :frowning:

My GT mini CW is from Banggood. Seems warehouse stocking date was 15th Mar for my unit. Works okey so far. I cleaned contacts before using it. There was some glue on driver contact area and lube on tube contact surfaces. Also top of the driver side spring was really dirty.

I measured tail cap current 5.60A on turbo at 0s with Sony VTC6 having 3.975V before the test.

I wonder what LED bin they are using for cool white version? (flux, tint) (V3 1A was said / guessed somewhere?)

Firmware defaults don’t seem to match the documentation (V5 manual at post #1 in this thread). Strobe modes are available by default. I tried factory reset and those are still available. (double click -> turbo, then double click -> strobe)

Front of the bezel is not straight: When the light is put bezel down on an even surface the light rocks little.

Unless I missed someone, I count 21 people to date who have posted about switch problems. They are….

Yep, it does somewhat. I was one of the 1.9. :+1:

And if Jasons count of around a thousand sold was/is correct… the “reported switch issue” is up slightly now to 2.1%

My light arrived and it works fine. I also did not watch any reviews before buying it and now I am absolutely amazed on how bright it is.

Banggood has sent me a replacement. I hope this one doesn’t have the same problem.

Why don’t gchart or Lexel design us a nice “tailcap” bord for the switch then we can do away with that half-lit switch and get a transparent switch that isn’t finicky

havent heard of a replacement that was just as bad. i think they know long ago the first batch had switch problems on some so i asume they send a newer version as replacements.

Most of the time my switch works just fine. Sometimes when it doesn’t if I ramp up all the way, then it works. I seem to get the best results with a very quick press/release. I am inclined to live with it, as I can’t see myself in a situation where a few extra seconds to turn the light off will have any impact.

In my opinion the best way to test switch functioning is put the light in momentary mode (5 clicks). Then light should shine allways when switch is detected pressed.

Hey
I have this light, but with an OSLON LED modded by Vinh…
650 lumen, 300kcd…I belicve…
What other hot rods are out that can surpass this one , but in this size light…Not a 2x18650…2” head…
something really small like this?
Is there anything ATM?

Thanks
Tony

Absolutely nothing if you stay in this class of light with a 2 inch/5cm head.

Cool…maybe I bump up a class…

Yes then:

It’s a 21700 light, which is very nice.

64mm head, or 2,5 inch head.

Here are the specs for each version:
Luxeon V Throw = 575m= 82,6kcd
SST-40 Throw = 770m= 148,2kcd
XP-L HI Throw = 250-260kcd+ = 1000m+

So embarrassing… I thought ramping up to maximum is the same as turbo :person_facepalming:

It varies Spiderlight, sometimes the top of the ramp is maximum, sometimes it’s not… depends on the UI and how it’s set up.
